Favorite "Fun Day at Sea" breakfast rituals

I"ve been on a few cruises & have almost always ordered light fare from room service (coffee, fruit, pastries) and/or gone to the buffet for eggs, sausage, bagels etc... My next cruise I'M going to the MDR!!!! I always forget I can do this, next time I'm having eggs Benedict in the MDR:D

I never miss breakfast in the MDR. I can eat Eggs Benedict 7 day a week. They say you should place a special order of them with the sauce on the side so that they are fresh, but I have never done this. Never needed to they are wonderful the way they are.

We like to go to the DR a few times during a cruise. Great way to meet people and food is fresher than lido.

I love the breakfast in the MDR only that I stay up till about 2am and not wake up until 9:30 am about time I get to the MDR for breakfast its closed unless on a particular port day I get up earlier....I wish they at least stay open till 0:30 so I can make it. Even the buffets close around 0:30 the last carnival cruise last may we taken we did not eat any breakfast as it was always closed by 0am in the MDR or was it 9:30am I can't recall. So we have to wait till noon for lunch.

Yeah, when you don't leave the casino until 3AM it's tough to get up that early.

On our first cruise we ate in the MDR once for breakfast.

 

As a matter of fact we ate in the MDR once for dinner, too.

 

Our ritual is, well, we don't really have one. That's just the way we roll.

My time dining,too. We really like to push the envelope. We're on vacation. We try to keep it simple and easy. No schedules. No worries, mon.

My mom and aunt always eat breakfast in the MDR.

I haven't ever since our 2007 cruise, I just always seem to forget that they serve breakfast & lunch in the MDR. But for our upcoming cruise in June,

I'm definitely going to have breakfast in the MDR on sea days!! :) Eggs Benedict sound wonderful, mmm :)

I haven't had breakfast in the MDR since my Princess cruise back in 1999, lol. Truth is, I simply just sleep too late when on vacation. There's been a few mornings that DH has gotten an omelet from the buffet and brought it to the room as I've slept past the buffet times as well! Hey, I'm on vacation ;)

 

If they would stay open until 10:30 like another poster stated, I could make it. OR they could just start serving eggs benedict on the buffet....

Eggs Benedict on the buffet sounds like a brilliant idea!! What time DOES the MDR close for b-fast on sea days? If it is 10 I have a good shot at getting there in time, if it is 9 I'm probably SOL too.:cool:

I soo hope they are listening!! lol I doubt they can make the change before you cruise again though! Have another great one, very excited for you when I saw you cruise in less than two days!:p

Same here. It's just not a cruise, to us, if we don't have breakfast in the MDR.

I've seen eggs benedict on the lido buffet several times. Only had it once.

 

Doesn't work on the buffet, dries out way too quickly.

 

Think: molded leather over an egg and muffin.

Rise and shine ritual-well it doesn't seem to matter when I go to sleep, I am up early-grab DH, grab indian flute, get coffee on the lido deck..go out to where no one else is, play flute, watch sun rise. DH takes pics of sunrise. Get more coffee....., wait until the MDR opens, and DH gets Eggs Benedict. I get corned beef hash:confused:, fried egg and english muffin. Every day:eek:, very boring. (it's on my diet). But it is true about ordering the hollandaise on the side, this way the egg is cooked fresh for you. DH tried it and said "marked improvement". :)

We try to eat in the MDR every morning. The only exceptions would be if we have an early excursion and there isn't enough time. On those occasions we generally get room service. I rarely eat in the buffet. Just my preference though.

We typically eat at the buffet. When we went to the MDR, we found the food of same quality, service a little grumpy, and the portions were on the small side. Example: If you ask for bacon for a side dish, you receive 1 (one) piece of bacon. That's worse than the bacon police. I'm no pig (pun intended - I had to...), but I eat more than 1 piece of bacon - especially when I'm on vacation.

MDR every chance we have for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We like to wake up early and have the decks to ourselves and watch the boat come alive. Then head to the MDR for food and pineapple juice.

Not once have we ever had breakfast in the MDR. We are up early, have a nice relaxing breakfast up on lido, then go find our chairs. We are usually in our chairs no later than 830.

We have been on 9 cruises and this last cruise was the first time we went to the MDR for breakfast. We did so every morning and it was delicious! Eggs benedict every morning with some pineapple juice! We leave in 8 weeks for another cruise and we already told each other that we are eating breakfast every morning in the MDR!

Okay... Stupid question. Is there a dress requirement for MDR during breakfast and lunch? We usually do lido simply because that early I don't feel like makeup or getting dressed. I usually just through on shorts/tee or something basic.

Shorts & t-shirts are fine at b-fast & lunch I think. Just no bathing suits & of course the old rule of "no shoes, no shirt, no service" hehe:p
