we hired a tour guide by the name of reinhard dressler. he was amazing. he took our group of 14 on the most amazing adventure of our 7 day mex. riv cruise. he met us at the cruise terminal. we used public transportation because of the size of our group and to keep costs down. we took a quick walking tour of the waterfront and a quick walk through the cathedral. we then boadred a bus and headed our of town to a place called chicos paradise. this was a beautiful restaurant that over looks the river. reinhard led us into the river and convinced us to ride over the edge of the water fall like a natural waterslide. amazing, amazing, amazing!! next we boarded a bus to "boca". there we caught a water taxi that took us to colomitos beach/cove for some snorkeling. we met up with some jellyfish there so the snorkeling was cut short. next we hopped off the water taxi on colomitos beach and were taken on a most amazing hike along the coast. we passed one beautiful, secluded beach after the other. reinhard took us out to a small cliff where members of our group were able to cliff jump into the ocean. what a thrill! we then continued our hike. all along the way reinhard filled us with so much knowledge and information. he stopped and climbed a palm tree for our entertainment. we eventually reached las animas beach were reinhard had our water taxi waiting to take us back to town. once back in pv reinhard walked with us as we did some flea market shopping. he then escorted us right to the gate of the ship. the whole day was 9 hours and it was amazing. everyone in our group agreed that it was the high light of the entire cruise. reinhard it totally flexable and is willing to customize your day to fit your group. his true passion is nature and the unspoiled beauty that surrounds pv. when our day was over we flet like we had made a new friend not just hired a tour guide. when it was time to pay reinhard he actually seemed surprised that we wanted to pay him the amount we had agreed on. it felt like he was having us much fun as we were and just wanted to make sure we had a memorable day. i did all my contact through e-mail. he was very prompt and reliable. you can locate him through google. his web site is very basic but dont let that fool you. he will give you the adventure of a life time. check him out! you wont be disappointed

We were in PV 6/23. At the entrance we met Azael. He drive a 10 person van ( us and another 4 person group) to the Tequila factory, which is very popular spot for the cruise excursion. After that, we stop by zipline and got offered $50 per person while others pay 2X for the cost. Two of us join the zipline for one hour. At the return trip. He dropped us at OldTown for one hour shopping.

The whole trip cost us $25 per person from 9~5pm. I think it is pretty good day at PV. His contact is at azael@superiortousvallarta.com.

When we were in PV in march this year on the Spirit we hired a taxi driver named "Angel" sorry can't remember his last name. He took us all over the place showing us all sorts of things. We didn't want the tequila tour so he left that out. We went to the Cathedral, flea market, tile factory, Richard Taylor and Elizabeth Burton houses. We went so many places that a tour bus couldn't possibly go. I think it was 4 or 5 hours for 4 of us and cost $100 ($25 each) and we gave him a good tip in addition. Just ask for Angel in side the fence I think his taxi was brown and tan.

We booked Azael months before we arrived in PV. He met us at the Pier at exactly the time he said. We had an amazing day with him. Safety is a huge concern of ours. His van is very modern with seat belts, air conditioning and very good tires. He drove carefully and took very good care of us. Nothing was too much trouble for him, he wanted to make sure that we enjoyed our time in PV and with him. He is very personable and friendly. In fact we felt we had made a friend in Azael.

We will book him again when we go back to PV. His company is Superior Tour Vallarta.

Also, Mazatlan Frank who used to do just tours in Mazatlan is now doing tours in Puerto Vallarta. In the past, he just represented a tour operator there on his website. Now, because of all the cruise cancellations in Mazatlan, he is actually driving down to PV and doing some tours himself. We toured with him in Mazatlan in 2008 and he was fantastic. Google his website and email him. Ask him when and if he will be doing tours in PV as the actual tour guide. If you can, tour with him. He was fantastic and such a nice man.

I have done tours with Frank in Mazatlan, and then this past April I arranged both my Cabo San Lucas tour and my Puerto Vallarto tour with Frank. I was lucky that he was in PV the day I was there so he went on the tour with us. He is a very nice man and will work with you to make sure you have the tour you want. Nice to hear you got to tour with Frank in PV. He really is a superb tour guide and a nice man. I'm sure the Mazatlan cancellations have made it challenging for him but as you can see he seems to be very resourceful
