scotsgirl Posted June 29, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2011 Hi - sailed on Liberty of the Seas on a 4 day cruise from Barcelona on 19th May. Had an ace time. But what's with the Penguins on the front of the ship. It was my first time on RC - do all ships have penguins, and if so why?
dmwnc1959 Posted June 29, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 29, 2011 Apparently it is only on the Liberty of the Seas. I found this from a thread when she first entered service: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=10175630&postcount=39 Pictures of the penguins: http://pictures.cruisecritic.com/showfull.php?photo=12017 http://www.cruiseplan.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=11&pos=21 http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Mb2mNJ_VTPE/TfY_O9q0VMI/AAAAAAAAC6U/Pf8Dc7fYOAc/s1600/IMG_5350-LOTS-leaving-Barce.jpg
scotsgirl Posted June 29, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted June 29, 2011 Thanks for that info. It caused great hilarity amongst our group!
liberiben Posted June 29, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2011 They are cute, however when I was on there in September last year they reflect the sun during the day so while you are on the treadmill they blind you. I had to search for a spot where they were not.
negc Posted June 29, 2011 #5 Share Posted June 29, 2011 I must say that somehow I missed seeing them when we were on Liberty in November. If you liked the penguins, you should absolutely love the flamingos on Deck 13 of the Jewel of the Seas.:)
CaribbeanCrush Posted June 29, 2011 #6 Share Posted June 29, 2011 The Penguins and I became very close as I was spending lots of time on the treadmill to burn off all those extra calories! :D
RoofingPrincess Posted June 29, 2011 #7 Share Posted June 29, 2011 My first thought was, don't tell my son, he'll want to cruise on the Liberty so he can see them. My second thought was, if he has to use a treadmill to see them, maybe I *WILL* tell him about the penguins.... :D

Will have to make more use of the gym in the future.:)
crusinmama06 Posted June 29, 2011 #9 Share Posted June 29, 2011 Of all of my time spent on this board, this is the first time I have ever seen the penguins mentioned so I thought you were talking about the character penguins from the movie Madagascar. HAHA! :D Now I see why, they put them where no one would see them! ;)
Rare BillOh Posted June 29, 2011 #10 Share Posted June 29, 2011 Of all of my time spent on this board, this is the first time I have ever seen the penguins mentioned so I thought you were talking about the character penguins from the movie Madagascar. HAHA! :D Now I see why, they put them where no one would see them! ;) They are easily viewable from other ships though. When Liberty was first commissioned she was in Miami for a 2 day cruise for TAs and other industry people. She was parked behind Majesty. From majesty's sports court the penguins were right at eye level.
jonbgd Posted June 29, 2011 #11 Share Posted June 29, 2011 Since my GF loves penguins and has been trying to work out on cruises. This will be perfect. I get my nap and she gets a work out as she is running on the treadmill trying to catch them:D
