CRUISE4JANE Posted July 7, 2011 #26 Share Posted July 7, 2011 I am hearing about all the people winning at the casinos on ship, but why don't the losers share their stories. First day I won (which was not much about $100) pretty fast, but after that I just went DOWNHILL! I am pretty lucky at neighborhood casino (winning a few jackpots) but on the cruise boats, you can forget it. I love to play the slots, but will have to watch myself on my next cruise. Guess it must be nice to win enough money to pay for your cruise lol. I know I will be in there often, OMG!
pdsgt Posted July 7, 2011 #27 Share Posted July 7, 2011 I don't play the slots, but I've had some great luck with the crap table.I don't win all the time, but I hit for over $5500.00 one week and several times for over a thousand. My wife prefers roulette. She generally makes a couple hundred most every trip. Roger & Vicki Arcadia, Calif.
popsec Posted July 7, 2011 #28 Share Posted July 7, 2011 I am hearing about all the people winning at the casinos on ship, but why don't the losers share their stories.! ROTFL!.......me win?......in a casino?....on a cruise?.......ya gotta be kiddin! I win $200, $300, $400 "pots" and then donate it all back and lots more. I only really won once and it was $1350 and they were right there wanting photo I.D. so I could pay tax on it. With all I lose on the ships I knew darn sure I wouldn't be paying tax on it and I didn't. I called Carnival after the cruise to have a win/loss statement mailed to me and sure enough, I lost more than I won
CRUISE4JANE Posted July 7, 2011 #29 Share Posted July 7, 2011 I haven't. Is everyone lucky but me? They let me win $100 pretty fast and after that NOTHING the whole week but maybe a little here and a little there and then NOTHING!
nancydee Posted July 8, 2011 #30 Share Posted July 8, 2011 On my last cruise on the Pride, I went down to the casino to look for my mother. I had no money on me, so she gave me $10 while I waited for her to finish up on her machine. I took it to a 5 cent machine and within 5 mins I had won $280 :D I gave my Mom back her $10 LOL
CimW Posted July 8, 2011 #31 Share Posted July 8, 2011 On my last cruise, I didn't budget in a lot of money for the casino. So I played penny machines, minimum bet. Won $5-$10 here and there during the week. In the casino I enjoyed playing a certain machine, played it all week, on the last sea day, hit a bonus and it gave me $400 on a 20 cent bet and on another machine a bonus gave me $100. I was happy. hankandteri Posted July 8, 2011 #32 Share Posted July 8, 2011 I've lost money at the casino on every cruise I've ever been on. Never once hit a big jackpot--never come close. Maybe next time.
Rare chasinraynbowz Posted July 8, 2011 #33 Share Posted July 8, 2011 On a Princess cruise, I won $2750 in Bingo which I shared with my mother. I put most of the money in the safe, but took $200 down to the casino with me and walked away with $600. Pretty good day for me!! The last 2 Carnival cruises I have been on, I have done great in the casino on day one and then either break even or lose the rest the of the cruise!! lol

Remind me not to have you make a bet for me :D I'll say anytime I don't lose, it feels like a win. I generally take about $500 in cash just for the casino. Last cruise I was only down about $50. For all the time and fun I had in the casino, $50 is a good price to pay.
boaterette Posted July 8, 2011 #35 Share Posted July 8, 2011 I won 5700 playing the keno slots on the Pride. I won 1000 on keno on the elation. I have won a lot of little 100 to 200 dollar pots. But I spend a lot of time in the casino.
richfret Posted July 8, 2011 #36 Share Posted July 8, 2011 Now you gone and done it! We are in for 1,000 replies of how much money was won. Now the real question should be: "How much money did you put in prior to winning?" The answers would be more like "I only put in $1,200 and won $1,000. It was great!" But alas, we all know Casinos are there to lose money so what the heck.
number1cruiser Posted July 8, 2011 #37 Share Posted July 8, 2011 I was on the Carnival Freedom in January and the first full day at sea, I hit the penny quick Hits for 2,200. Took it all home with me. I did play in the casino off and on all week and did really well. The casino hostess was great, they even bought us dinner in the Supper Club and send a nice bottle of wine. I really enjoyed this cruise.

travelgarn Posted July 8, 2011 #39 Share Posted July 8, 2011 I'm not a big gambler. I was on the Sensation in March. I played Bingo ($20) and the special was that you get a Cash Craze card free. Well, I won $25 off the cash craze card...no win at Bingo. I took the $25 I won from the Cash Craze card & played Roulette the remaining 2 days of the cruise. I walked away with $200. So, I turned $20 into $200. I was very happy. :D DJ
RMM34667 Posted July 8, 2011 #40 Share Posted July 8, 2011 I spend a lot in the casinos. Never have come home with any. I usually have a good hit or two to help trim the loses, but never enough to cover them. On the Sensation I hit for $750 on a quarter machine with one coin in. (didn't really want to play during the day but was keeping my sister company). On an NCL cruise I won $360 on a penny machine. They also had this ULTIMATE BLACKJACK game where they gave out $100 vouchers. They spotted you the money and you got to keep anything over that hundred in the end. I had one five dollar chip which I deposited on Roulette and won so it was like free money. I hit for 800 on a 2 cent machine on the Legend. That helped. But I look forward to playing and budget $100 a day for it. It's always a big part of my cruise experience!!
happylady Posted July 8, 2011 #41 Share Posted July 8, 2011 My DH & I usually play the slots or should I say donate money to the casino through the slots. During our May Spirit cruise our DS wanted to play blackjack. So he and DH sat at a table and started to play. Meanwhile I decided to start with $20 at the roulette table (I'm such a big spender. LOL). After about 30 minutes the dealer ran out of my color chips ($200 worth). I was almost shaking....like I said $20 is a lot!! Over the week cruise, I kept returning to the same table and playing the same combo of numbers. We figure I won about $350-400, but my DS keep loosing and giving me "puppy dog" eyes saying that he was out of money. Between my winnings and DS's losing, I walked away with about $150-200. Not much compared to some of the other stories, but I'll never complain!!:D Since I did spend an hour or two every night in the casino, I started to notice the differences between the dealers...some great, some good and some not so good. One dealer on the roulette, didn't even give you time to place your bets....he would start, weakly spinning the ball. I understand that more games that are played the high chance for the casino to make money...but seriously...we were ducking under each others arms trying to place our bets before he froze the table. Needless to say that I didn't stay at that table long. One time I was standing behind DH watching blackjack and the dealer almost got mad when some one made a decision he didn't agree with. He would move on to the next person before you said if you wanted a card or not.....it was like the players weren't even there and he was the one playing each had.
LuvCruiSun Posted July 8, 2011 #42 Share Posted July 8, 2011 Last June on the Triumph, my husband and I both got a royal flush on the progressive video poker machine. I won $2400 and he won $ 2100 plus he won $500 in slot tournament. Made the trip extra fun!
luschen Posted July 8, 2011 #43 Share Posted July 8, 2011 I won about $400 at the craps tables on our last cruise on the Triumph - paid for about 1/3 of my wife's spa expenses!
LovableGluttons Posted July 8, 2011 #44 Share Posted July 8, 2011 What a fun thread to read! I have not had a big win on slots ..yet On the Legend in March I hit four of a kind on Caribbean five card poker, then a full house. But I still spent more than I won. masspector Posted July 8, 2011 #45 Share Posted July 8, 2011 This is an interesting thread to read. It appears that several people have won on slots and video poker. I have read elsewhere that the slots are the worst odds on the ship because they do not have to conform to Vegas rules. Is that true? I lean more toward slots and video poker. Do all of the ships have penny, nickel, and quarter games? I am not a big spender, but may try the machines if the odds are ok and such a low cost of entry. Is the Blackjack minimum $5? Thanks
hitmann327 Posted July 8, 2011 #46 Share Posted July 8, 2011 I won on the Miracle a few years back playing 3 card poker. Started with 5 dollar hands and just went on a run and increased the bets and the next thing I knew I had $2,
evandbob Posted July 8, 2011 #47 Share Posted July 8, 2011 Long ago and far away, I won $3750 on a quarter slot machine on the 2nd night of a Legend cruise.....went home with $3500 and an IRS form......other cruises maybe won a little, lost a little, a few cruises just lost. I did see a young man hit the progressive jackpot for over $25 grand on the penny slots on the Valor a year or two ago, but that was a totally singular event. More money is lost than won in the casino, otherwise, the cruiselines wouldn't have them. To me it's entertainment.

Thanks Slots are the worst odds....video poker is not so bad. Blackjack minimum went up to $6 on our last cruise....not sure if it's fleet-wide but probably is. However, you could put $5 down as your bet and $1 down for the "pairs" or whatever it was called spot
bitemyfly Posted July 8, 2011 #49 Share Posted July 8, 2011 I play 21. and have played it for years.. we do at least 3 trips a year to LV. I love walking away winning... doesnt matter how much.. on cruise ships.. i budget 150.00 per night to play
gelboydad Posted July 8, 2011 #50 Share Posted July 8, 2011 Actually never won. We only play poker slot and only for a quarter. However here is a question for everyone. We always take at least 7 day cruises. When we play (couple hours a day) we always win the first 2 days. Last cruise we hit straights, flushes and a ton of four of kinds the first 2 days. We were up couple hundred. For days 3 through 9 we did not hit one four of a kind. So is it true that the slot odds are changed after the first few days of a cruise? We are platinum and it seems that it has been that way on all cruises. Essentially we get up hundred dollars and give it all back plus a few more. We play to have fun so if we come back with more than we have in the budget for casino money then we consider it we are ahead.
