Recived "THE CALL" this morning...... OS here we come!

Recommended Posts

Sailing this Sunday (7/31) on the Gem. Had the Aft Penthouse and they offered an upsell to OS, 9504! I didn't decide immediately, told her to give me 10 minutes to think about the offer and I'd call her back. Took me less than 3 minutes to call back an accept! Sunday cannot come soon enough:):):)

Congrats, your gonna love it.....even if you have to give up that great aft location. :)

We loved the DOS on the Star. We discovered that your butler has the ability to get you your favorite liquor, even if not on their list. Grey Goose was not on the list but he got it for us. So, it doesn't hurt to ask!

Also, did you know you can order appetizers and desserts from the specialty restaurants during dinner time at no additional charge?

Have a great cruise!

Congrats! I have the same cabin in Nov. Just curious but how much more was the OS cabin?

im not getting this whole upsell thing

couldent you just upgrade youre self to an os, if you found out it was still available. or is it some kind of crazy deal if ncl offers it to you?

:confused::confused:

It's always cheaper. How much cheaper depends on the cruise and the cabin.

First thanks for all the congrats....

Though we were originally in a suite that I really was looking forward to, the aft, I had read a thread that said in Bermuda the Gem butts up against another ship, and I was kind of disappointed not having the full ocean view from our balcony for these 2 1/2 days. Definitely not a deal breaker for this cabin, but did put a damper on things as I was really looking forward to aft (but we do have the aft PH booked for next June to Bahamas so I'll get to experience this coveted cabin then).

Another contributing factor in making our decision was the fact that after I booked this cruiseI found out that a NYC radio station, Z100, was going to be hosting and celebrating their 30th Anniversary on this sailing and saw in the list of activities they posted on their itin. lots of poolside music and games, etc., etc., and feared that the pool area, which is usually a difficult area to find seating, would be beyond impossible on this sailing. As this was the week we could squeeze in for vacation, there really was no going back for us. The private courtyard and pool was definitely a major selling point for this upsell.

Though an OS sounds amazing, I would have been perfectly content in our original cabin choice as we sailed the PH Suite in April, 9500 all the way forward, and absolutely loved it and the huge private balcony and would not have spent the additional money on this upsell.

Now speaking of money, we originally paid 1899 pp for aft PH and they offered the upsell for $375 additional pp, total of $750, which seemed well worth it for my reasons above! I did try to get them to bring the price down, countered at $500, they declined, tried to negotiate $600, they declined and was told that they do not set the pricing.

Also, like the free bar set up,:D but could have easily purchased this on my own for way less money, LOL!

Just hoping that this suite may bring us a little closer to the possibility of being invited on a complimentary bridge tour, any thoughts on this?;)

Is priority seating in the showroom available with this cabin, anyone?

I will be sure to post all about our week on the Gem (love this ship and crew) once we return.

WE have been upgraded by cruise line in the past. Had paid for a basic balcony and received the Owners Suite. There is no additional money paid - that is the great thing about it. We were asked to consider paying the room steward and additional 50 cents a day. Considering we had a diningroom, 2 bathrooms and all the extras that was a small price to pay. Cabin closet alone was 16 feet!
