going to see the world Posted September 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2011 If you book an excursion through Carnival, does the ship HAVE to wait for you? Just wondering if I should be paranoid if looking at longer excursions. :p
Rare shof515 Posted September 2, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2011 i think after 1-2 hour after sail time, the ship will leave you in port. They can not wait forever for you

sunsailsand Posted September 2, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 2, 2011 IF you are on a ship sponsored excursion ,they have to wait for you,it is in their policy
Rare shof515 Posted September 2, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 2, 2011 IF you are on a ship sponsored excursion ,they have to wait for you,it is in their policy while that is true, they still have to wait a reasonable amount of time otherwise the ship wont make the next port of call. I remember watching a cruise tv show where the ship waited up to an 1hour 30 min for a lost pax
going to see the world Posted September 2, 2011 Author #7 Share Posted September 2, 2011 Is there any sort of written policy? Please don't take offense, but I was wondering if there was some sort of written rule, not what everyone thinks should/could happen :o
zqvol Posted September 2, 2011 #8 Share Posted September 2, 2011 while that is true, they still have to wait a reasonable amount of time otherwise the ship wont make the next port of call. I remember watching a cruise tv show where the ship waited up to an 1hour 30 min for a lost pax Most ports of call can be reached in less than half the time they allow. The ship wants to be at sea so that the casino and shops are open.

Will I miss the ship if I go on shore excursions? A. One of the major advantages of participating in shore excursions sold through Carnival is that we closely monitor the excursion departures and returns. Therefore, we can assure you that even if there are unexpected delays on an excursion, your ship will be there when you return. Please be aware that if you make your own arrangements, or leave an organized excursion, you will be on your own and it will be up to you to make sure you return to your ship on time. There you go written by Carnival on their site

nick_091909 Posted September 2, 2011 #11 Share Posted September 2, 2011 Thank you! Guess I missed it :) You're welcome. Thats why we book our excursions through the ship, well 1 of the reasons. We do pay more, but to us it's worth the cost.

There you go written by Carnival on their site They can only wait so long. It is up to the port authority.......this is a great sales pitch to purchase ship excursions....... Any well known organized local excursion operator will not let you miss the ship because his livelihood depends on it...... Check out the ports of call boards and learn something and support the locals on the islands.......
OCruisers Posted September 2, 2011 #14 Share Posted September 2, 2011 Once on a ship's shore excursion, we were almost THREE hours late returning. The ship was there ... waiting for us with a tram to get us back to the ship as quickly as possible! :eek:What amazed me was one couple wanted to go shopping at the cruise terminal shops before getting on the ship because they didn't get to since the tour was so late returning. They were quickly told the ship would leave when the tram arrived ... with or without them. Some people!
