Shooraq Posted September 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2011 I've been tracking airfare from Boston the Rome for May 2012. Off the general sites, I can get airfare as low as $1200 pp, but thru RCI's Choice Air program, I can get flights using American and British Airways for only $900. Does it look like the price might drop closer in time, or does $900 sound like a good price given the gas situation and the economy in general? 6rugrats Posted September 13, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 13, 2011 Although I did just "purchase" FF tickets to Europe for next summer, I probably would not be purchasing regular tickets to Europe for May yet. Read through the sticky at the top of this page about using cruise air, and also the threads discussing Choice Air.
Shooraq Posted September 13, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted September 13, 2011 No worries, I'm waiting it out and hopefully something good occurs in the next few months. I'll have the money saved to pay off the plane tickets by that time!
griffy116 Posted September 14, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 14, 2011 I'm already checking on Atlanta to Rome in June 2012, and would snap up a $900 airfare in a heartbeat. Right now, I'm only seeing fares (with one stop, mind you) at $1700+. I'm hoping late fall will see a drop, but not counting on it...:(
wantocruisemore Posted September 14, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 14, 2011 Anything for $1000 or below I would snap up. I paid $1600 for our June airfare for USA to Rome roundtrip. I could have gotten it for $1300 several months earlier but traveling companions couldn't make up mind if wanted time in Rome before or after the cruise. They had some great fares from SEA-CDG, but I decided to save the $$ and book FF tickets instead. I don't know if prices will drop or not, but they seem really high right now. Shooraq Posted October 21, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted October 21, 2011 Still tracking, but at least I confirmed what days I am travelling so that I can take the jump when ready. I currently see availability for a Swiss Air flight thru Choice Air that is $860. I still can't judge if they will go down or go up. Any thoughts? ocngypz Posted October 22, 2011 #9 Share Posted October 22, 2011 Anything under $1000 out of Boston is a good deal as long as it is NOT on the Alitalia/Delta codeshare - operated by Alitalia. Check connecting times in LHR if you decide on BA. It's a nightmare.
Globaliser Posted October 23, 2011 #10 Share Posted October 23, 2011 Check connecting times in LHR if you decide on BA. It's a nightmare. Why? Most BA-BA connections are within Terminal 5, minimum connecting time 60 minutes; one of the easiest at any big hub in Europe.

deedeetoo Posted October 24, 2011 #12 Share Posted October 24, 2011 I agree with others that $900 sounds good. I don't fly often to Europe but I've been trying to plan a vacation for my family there for years and have often looked at airfare. We also fly out of Logan. $900 is a good price. recyclelady Posted October 24, 2011 #13 Share Posted October 24, 2011 I'd take it. In August we flew from Chicago to Rome. I know it is a bit farther than Boston, but we were almost lucky to get $1400 RT. If you are seeing below $1000, do it!
6rugrats Posted October 24, 2011 #14 Share Posted October 24, 2011 Discussed flight is gone at that price. From OP's other thread about this trip: Nuts - the availability of that Swiss Air flight went away this morning! Crap - oh well, so much for that idea... Should have known that would happen, always my luck. I guess I'll keep tracking now. There are options for American Airlines and British Airways for approx $950 and up, but I loved seeing a flight for under $900.
letsgo39 Posted October 27, 2011 #15 Share Posted October 27, 2011 We fly to Europe every year and when I can get a flight under $1000.00 I book it.This year, I booked a flight for $960.00 for May 2012 thru 1800flyeurope from Nashville to Rome.
