Heald: New Loyalty Program

Tier one would be 1-24 days at sea

Tier two would be 25-74 days at sea

Tier three would be 75-224 days at sea

Tier four would be 225+ days at sea.

Since Carnival is not revealing what we would be getting at each level, it's really hard to speculate.

I will be waiting with baited breathe to hear what's in store. I'm grateful that I am already at the Platinum level, and my husband will be there when we sail in February 2012.

It's mainly about status, making people feel 'important'.

Stuff like Priority Boarding

(not a huge issue to me, but to people who fancy themselves VIP I have to ask..

why are you messing around with lowly Carnival

and not at the quayside for Yachts of Seabourn???)

The actual material stuff you get is tacky stuff, freebies junk,

but people are into this game big time! :)

These posts make me ever more thankful I can see thru the whole thing.

It's so transparent

but it works wonders for Carnival's bottom line as they all madly scramble to be King of the Mountain!! :D

.

WOW , that's all....just wow!

I hope they have something in place under the new program that is similar to the milestone treats they have for cruises # 25, 50, 75 and the big 100. I'm no where near any of those (heck, I'm no where near platinum), but the OBC for those is a really great thank you.

Curious to see the details when those are finalized (as is everyone else, I know...).

I am thinking how will the new 75 day system work, this Oct is our 10th cruise and we will have 70 days under our belt. On July 2012 we are taking a 8 night cruise giving us 78 days, will the first 5 days up to 75 be Gold and the last 3 days from 75 to 78 will change to Platinum? are we going to have a Gold SS card till 75 and receive a new Platinum SS cards from 76 and up???? (I am sure lots of passengers will be in this situation) and I can guarantee you there will be a few passengers going to GS demanding their Platinum status on the 75 day. I think it will be confusing, like in our case the 75 day is in the middle of our cruise. If you leave it as is at 10 cruises regardless of the days you become Platinum there is no confusion. (I am sure there will be passengers with 9 and 8 cruises who will be on the same situation)

You will be fine because you will have obtained platinum in October and will be grandfathered at the time that the new program kicks in even though you will not have the 75 nights.

If someone is not grandfathered in and they will hit their 75th night during the middle of a cruise, I would assume that they would be given the platinum or whatever they are going to call it S & S card at embarkation.

Being new to Carnival, can anybody tell me what you would get with each of the new tiers?

Nothing has been officially announced yet, but my Platinum suggestions would be a free 8 x 10 picture (that would cost Carnival less than their stupid notepads) and how about a 2 for 1 card for alcohol. It would generate additional revenue and generate goodwill at the same time.;)

Of course, from Carnival's perspective, that is (potentially) lost revenue on an 8x10 photo. I could see a "one time use" 2 for 1 drink card being a good deal for all involved. I don't see them offering much more at the Platinum (or whatever it will be known as) level - as they have so many guests in that category already. It's a tough balancing act - to both show their appreciation for loyalty and not cost them significant $'s at the same time.

It "appears" that this may be a move to make the "Milestone" level ( tier 4) less attainable.

Currently, it is 25 cruises regardless of length.....with the 4th tier being 225 days...that is at least 32 cruises of 7 days in length.

Well that just sux if tier 4 is 225 days........I am supposed to be milestone on Blogger's 5 under the old system, but will only have 164 days.......

By the end of the year I will have had 2, 9 day cruises, 18, 7 day and 4 5 day cruises...so I haven't been running up my numbers with short cruises...I will have to take another 6 seven day cruises to get to milestone and that just doesn't seem fair to be so close and have it snatched away.

Hopefully they will be as slow about implementing this as they are with making the decision in the 1st place.

Agreed!! Which is another reason I think they keep dragging their feet on any changes. Because no matter what they do - there will be some part of the group unhappy.

Hopefully they figure it out....AND get it right! ;)

The entire idea of changing the requirements (days instead of cruises) and changing the names of the levels and mixing the perks around is solely for the reason of preventing people from saying "you took my Platinum away" The is no more Platinum, or milestone and the perks will be mixed up enough that "grandfathering in" is not relevant either. You can't "grandfather" someone into to a level that has no corresponding level in the new system - that is the idea....

Can anyone tell me where I can read about the proposed changes? Thanks!

Most of the discussion over the weekend was based on a survey that some CC members received. The loyalty program appears to be changing to a points system - based on length of the cruise:

Tier 1: 1 to 24 points

Tier 2: 25 to 74 points

Tier 3: 75 to 224 points

Tier 4: 225 plus points

Here are the links to the 2 most active threads....

Just asking:

I keep seeing a mention of a personalize "notepad." On my last cruise, I received three sheets of blank Carnival paper with my name laser printed at the top. I threw them out. Was that my "notepad?"

I guess I am not going to get all wound up at this point. Obviously, they have a plan in mind, they have stated they will not take any of my current perks away, so I will just sit back and wait for the announcement - probably sometime in 2013. ;)

Sounds like a good approach until we get more info and find out if there is anything to get wound up about! ;)

I will be having my "Milestone" cruise on my wedding cruise 11-20-2011. I have already been sent the papers announcing it will be my "milestone". I hope the changes don't take place prior to this. We booked a more expensive room due to it being my milestone and my honeymoon cruise too.

You should be good to go. My understanding is that this won't actually be implemented until early (first half?) of next year.

(Congratulations)!!

I was thinking that the free picture might actually increase some revenue. I rarely stop and take pictures because the prices are IMHO pricey. Seems to me that if I knew I was eligible for a free one I might end up buying an additional one if I can't choose between a couple of them.

By the March 3/3/2012 I will have 30 cruises with CCL and all of them are a least 7days.I've allways thought that when the number of cruises goes past 25 it should go to another tier and maybe you should have different perks, like having your room ready first and be the very first on the ship. Because the last couple of cruises I was not on the ship first many other people were on the ship before me. What do you think?

I used to care about getting onboard EARLY - though all that means now is an early trip to the buffet or laying around the room. We are not pool people, so no advantage to getting there early for that. The casino and shops are closed - so there's not much happening! At this point there is nothing about getting on a Carnival ship which causes me the excitement it used to. Now, shift to Celebrity or our upcoming 2 night NCL Pearl or Epic cruise and I find that I want to get onboard early to explore. There is nothing left on Carnival for us to explore!!
