Thank you for doing this

Please help with my cabin selection on DIAMOND PRINCESS for Alaska next June

WE have been offered P244 or E 425 One is obstructed the other seems to be located below casino or above a bathroom or near the galley ...problem?

There are a few cabins still available on Emerald includind E 421 or 419

I am looking for the LEAST obstructed balcony and quiet cabin as I am a VERY light sleeper

THanks again

michele

If it was me I would take E419. It is close to the elevators but that seems not to be a problem with noise. The only other problem with this one is that it is over the "Crooners Bar". Although there is no loud music, just the piano player, you might hear something a little. Your best bet would be if you can get the mirror image of E419 and that is E416 over top of the stores.

On a side note, there are no balconies on this deck except for a few all the way aft. (E710 to E733)

I have been in the E midships at the elevator (glass and regular there are more elevators in this area than the others) for 3 ships now (Crown/Star/Star) and I find noise is never a problem. People tend to come and go from the elevators pretty quickly. Because the bed/living area is closer to the window than the hall very little "background noise" gets through. Even the toliet "whoosh" is not noticeable unless you are in the bathroom. Most likely to cause noise is where the staff goes in and out with the carts but those are inside cabins. I have now booked my fourth cabin midships/category E and with Renmar's great site -- I feel pretty confident that I will be happy and snug in my fairly cheap cabin. Can't wait for my next voyage -- Diamond Princess Bangkok to Beijing / 16 days in E410.

I was now given E 415 I really hope the picyture you posted is accurate .It looks not too blocked Furthermore I really home music stops relatively early..we are over the lounge . Apparently for Alaska Starboard is best Otherwise cabins on the port side seem far away from noise

Now if BALCONIES could be reduced I really would like one

Idid it last time at 4 am in College Fjord ...wore my coat over my PJsand stood out there for picture taking....in slippers ....on my balcony ...while everyone else slept......early mornings on the balcony are great ...a cup of coffee from room service ...WOW

I loved the quiet ...all you could hear was the clink clink of a few ice patches hitting the ship..It was an awesome sight ...all those Glaciers ..a few seals on ice ...a unique experience

LOved all the scenery

Theo thanks again I hope we can access your file for a long time so we need to keep the thread alive

Yes, that looks like a great cabin but how do you think the noise will be around the elevators? All of those cabins look good but just worried about the noise.

Anyone have any comments on noise level around elevators?

Thanks,

Nanc

Although I haven't sailed on the Caribbean Princess yet (cabin E416) I have sailed in many similar locations on a lot of ships. Never had a problem with extra noise around the elevators. Often times I find the ships have a little alcove area for the elevator area and passengers don't actually spill out in front of cabin doors anyway :)

So unless I book an aft balcony I prefer to be center ship - near the elevator :D

Stayed in that exact cabin #416 last May. Absolutely no elevator noise at all. I had been a bit concerned that we might hear more people noise in the hall but we didn't find that the case either. We liked the really convenient location by the elevators and just a flight of stairs up from the activity on Deck 7 at night.

Oops I wason E416 on the Sapphire. Not sure if that was the ship you were referencing. But still might have answered your concern about being by an elevator

There was somebody asking about this cabin E416 on the Sapphire. They wanted to know if the bed was under the window or against the sidewall. Can you remember?

Never mind, saw your post on the other tread.

I'd like to echo the thanks for this site. I used it to book cabins on 1-day not-quite-back-to-backs on the Golden and Star this September (Seattle to Vancouver). I'll see if I can get you a picture for E404 that is at sea instead of in port. Also, I just saw noticed that the picture for E415 has disappeared - I hope that doesn't mean the one that I used to base my booking was inaccurate.

E414 & E415 were never posted under the Golden/Star/Grand, I don't have those pictures yet. If you did look at those numbers it must have been on one of the other ships.

Would appreciate the pictures of E404 ,probably better without the port in the background.

I was on Star for 14 days in Jan. 2012. We had room E405 and liked it very much. There were 2 handles and some ladder like things in front of the window but could see with detail what was on shore. I did not post my pictures as I didn't think they were particularly any better than what was already on the site. When I got back I rebooked my Diamond Princess 16 day Asia cruise to E410 based on the pictures here. From what I could see on the Star from open doors etc. (many of the people on the cruise boarded in BA (Argentina) and therefore spoke Spanish and we didn't seem to converse in the hall as much or meet where you could see in the cabin.;) ) but it looked like most of the E400's were pretty good views out the window. Being midships by the stairway and the door to the deck is wonderful. The coming cruise is my 5th in the midships area of Emerald deck and it seems to fulfill our needs very well.

Wish i had found your site earlier! we booked our cruise in September lvg in May on the Emerald for the Baltic cruise. We chose guaranteed ov and hoped for an upgrade or at least a view reasonably obstructed. Price was good, but now I see that our cabin is E628 and the view leaves much to be desired. Our friends that booked at the same time have E627 and they have a much better view - I guess he will have to take all the pictures from the window of the ship. I hope our room is not dark! Thanks for your effort, you have done a wonderful job with your cabin location site.

Not sure what date in May you are sailing but I did a brief search and there are some decent view cabins available. Perhaps you or your TA if you used one could ask to change your cabin to a better one now that you have an assignment. I found E323 was open on the Emerald the first of May sailing. Very little obstruction and I can tell you I have had a similar view and it is not a problem at least to me. Go to Princess.com and do a "fake" booking for your date and category. Continue until you get a list of available rooms and then check them individually by Renmar's site and choose the best of the lot:) Also consider since there has been a price drop (announced by Princess in red print perhaps they will let you go to oceanview and there are many nice Plaza deck cabins open with no obstruction. Maybe not that much more expensive.

Good luck in negotiations. I would not go back to guarantee pool. I would have the cabin(s) I want listed and in order of desirability to you. They can only say no or YES:D You lose nothing except the regretful feeling that you now have more information and could make a different choice if only you had

the opportunity.

Don't worry-- the Baltic cruise is one with many many ports and you go from early to late on excursions. Most of the ports are container ports outside of the city so your sail in and out are more working port than scenic. Run up to my favorite spot near lifeboat #1 and you will see everything very well and can spend your extra money on the excursions like the great train to Flam.

Thank you so much for this thread and your website!!

We booked on the Crown for a cruise of the Med/Greek Isles for 6/29 two weeks ago during the "Love Boat" sale for an interior. We got notice this week that we were upgraded to an obstructed oceanview room E321. After a quick google search and this forum, I found the pictures...it's was okay, but there were definitely better. I went back on the Princess site as suggested on the forum to search available FF rooms. There is was: E416. Much, much better view for an "obstructed." A quick phone call later and we will be in E416 come this June :). We're excited.

As a forum lurker, thanks so much for your help! I'll be sure to get pictures after we sail.

I'm glad you found the cabin you liked, that's what this website is all about.

Please do send a picture when you are back.

Now, if only one of the moderators would be so kind to keep this on top I think a lot of CC members would greatly appreciate it and so would I.

It is a lot of work to keep this going and searching back many pages sometimes to find this tread is not much fun. Also, with nearly 25000 views so far I would think it qualifies to keep this on top. IMHO of course.

Oh dear, I wonder which ship I was looking at? Oh well, it's just one night so no big deal. At least this gives me an opportunity to supply *2* pictures :D

Thanks to the generous help of a lot of CC members I am pleased to tell all of you that I now have all the pictures for the Grand class ships complete.

As of now all pictures for the obstructed view cabins on the Emerald decks are on the website for the following ships;

Crown Princess

Emerald Princess

Ruby Princess

Golden Princess

Grand Princess

Star Princess

Diamond Princess

Sapphire Princes

I still need about 40 pictures to complete the Caribbean Princess--22 to complete the Coral & Island Princess--9 for the Dawn, Sea & Sun Princes and 9 for the Ocean & Pacific Princess.

So please, if you have any of the pictures that are still missing on the website can you be so kind to send them to me. (see email below)

Thanks to all who contributed their pictures to this site.
