Hidden Costs of Cruising

Recommended Posts

My favourite was saying 'no thanks' to the photographers when they try to get you into a photo pose. That way you won't be tempted to go to the display boards to check it out.

A good article for those new to cruising.

We always say "no thanks", but if they insist on taking the photo we don't make a scene. However, it is years since we last looked at the photo boards.:)

The ever present and persistent Ships photographers on Princess are a real pest . They especially slow down disembarkation at ports of call by obstructing the gangway and halving the speed at which people get off .

The pricing & margins are outrageous and when you offer them a reasonable market price for a photo on the last day of the cruise they will not budge from the full price which is an absolute "rip off".

They persist in refusing $ 10, and then throw hundreds of photos in the bin, sheer stupidity and bloody mindedness .

Because people aim for the lowest price and then if they offer the lowest price once, later, people will then argue why not just give it to that for us now, instead of later. And similarly others will also demand that price. Overall, the whole pricing model then changes.

Basically, they've worked out a model that works for them and it's then up to us whether to take it or leave it.

I absolutely agree. I think that it is dangerous to keep a line of people waiting on a gangway while they take their pictures.
