ladybugk04 Posted November 4, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2011 I was thinking about taking a cruise to Alaska. My flight would fly into Seattle. How far away is the airport to the port of Seattle? Anyone know how much taxi fare would be?
BigR Posted November 4, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 4, 2011 The last time we were there it was about $25. You can take a bus for cheaper, but it takes much longer. You can also take the ship transfers if you signed up for that.
Ashland Posted November 4, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 4, 2011 Price out the ship offered transfers that might work out better in this case..which will include handling your luggage...
CruiserBruce Posted November 4, 2011 #4 Share Posted November 4, 2011 Rarely- very rarely- are cruise line transfers the best deal. Frequently the cruise line charges per person, what the taxi would cost for the taxi, which might hold 3 people. Last time we were there a sedan was $45, and could take 3, perhaps 4. The cruiseline was charging, IIRC, $28 per person.
mapleleaves Posted November 5, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 5, 2011 SeaTac Airport is about a 30 minute drive to downtown Seattle. Cabs cost $40 but I understand the fare will increase in 2012. There is also a limo service, STILA, with cars stationed at the airport and the cost is just a few dollars more. If you look in the SEATTLE FAQ STICKY above you'll find info. If you can manage your luggage, another option is the Light Rail which runs from the airport to Westlake Center downtown. (You have to walk about 7-10 minutes to get to the rail platform.) It takes 40 minutes and costs $2.75. There's also an Airporter Shuttle which is convenient if you're staying at one of their hotel stops or at a hotel closeby. $15 http://www.shuttleexpress.com/hotels
zephyr17 Posted November 5, 2011 #6 Share Posted November 5, 2011 Pier 66 is on the northen side of downtown, but Pier 91 is way the heck up by Magnolia a couple of miles north of downtown. SeaTac airport is about 15 miles south of downtown. Norweigan and Celebrity use Pier 66. The rest use the more remote Pier 91.
