Upgrade - Would you wait & see or pay for 1 now?

Recommended Posts

My cruise is less than 3 weeks away - 11/26. I am a Diamond Member (104 points), There is currently 30 or more balconies available, several Gs and

JS.

The ship has a lot of insides and outsides open as well. I am in an outside. (category G)

I can get the senior rate (which is $200 cheaper than the regular rate).

Considering how the ship has not filled up, there are a lot of balconies and higher and less than 3 weeks to sailing, would you pay for the upgrade now (with the senior rate still available) or take your chances and wait ?

Im a little confused. I assume you have made final payment. You are in an outside Cat G. You can get a senior rate for $200 less. Do you mean the Cat G is $200 less - which is thats the case your out of luck. If you mean the Balcony is $200 less than what you are paying, Id call and get the upgrade. I don't believe it will cost you anything.

Sorry for the confusion. The senior rate for a Balcony Upgrade was almost $300 less than the standard price for a D2 balcony. It cost me about $230 to upgrade from where I was in cat. g. I had a better cabin location for the G category but I upgraded to a D1 forward. Its 8 cabins from the Forward elevators and like a mile (it seems)

from the midship elevators on Liberty- but I guess the walking will help me lose some calories from the food.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I did not realize I was such a low points Diamond. I thought Diamond was Diamond but I guess they go by points now. I am always surprised by the number of D plus members that have never been upgraded yet sometimes I hear about first time cruisers getting a fairy visit.

Well that was a good deal! Balcony rooms are always nicer, because you can actually FEEL the weather before you get dressed and go out.

And there is no rhyme or reason to their upgrades. They are just very rare....because no one posts about NOT getting an upgrade! :)
