Rare patrice1 Posted November 16, 2011 #26 Share Posted November 16, 2011 Ahhhh, sea days! Sometimes we have them even while we're in port! Cruising is R&R for us, so a relaxing pre-breakfast on the balcony with coffee & danish, followed by the buffet breakfast, the locating of a shaded, quiet lounge chair for reading and multiple appropriate adult beverages are the ticket. This is followed by an after-lunch (usually buffet) nap. Some quality reading time on the balcony before getting ready for dinner & going to the casino and, of course, the Martini Bar and/or sushi, is definately in order. Your Time Dining helps continue the relaxation vibe, usually followed by the comedian and/or the piano bar. Because we're "older", bed is usually by 11 PM, which allows the relaxation to continue until the next morning! Do I hear an "Amen"?:D
CapsR1 Posted November 16, 2011 #27 Share Posted November 16, 2011 Relax in lounger with a good book...I usually end up staring out at the ocean and forgetting I brought a book :o. I feel the same way as you! Plus, I always bring a flurry of magazines that I never have the time to read at home and leave them in my cabin when we go. If the stateroom attendants want them, they are theirs for the taking. If not, just more trash . . . We went on a very port intensive cruise last summer and I truly didn't enjoy only 1 sea day on a 7 day cruise. Learned something about myself though . . . either book a longer cruise, or book a cruise with less ports!
RedbirdFL Posted November 16, 2011 #28 Share Posted November 16, 2011 19 year old DD and I enjoyed the towel folding lesson which was on one of our sea days.
Naomi John Posted November 16, 2011 #29 Share Posted November 16, 2011 But I enjoy finding a nice spot and knitting. Some may think it's weird, but I never have time to knit at home. It usually is in the sun, and I can enjoy the lido deck festivities and knit at the same time. Of course, my needles set off the security screening everytime.
ricew001 Posted November 16, 2011 #30 Share Posted November 16, 2011 Our last sea day was perfect. We ordered room service breakfast at 9 am and then went back to sleep - until 1 pm. We then went to the buffet and then on to the bar. From there we played music trivia and went back to the bar. I enjoyed my Carnival Cosmos and meeting and talking to the other cruisers!! Serenity Deck was also fabulous. A little napping and a little cocktail. Ah...so ready to go back!!!
ccruisequeen Posted November 16, 2011 #31 Share Posted November 16, 2011 Depends if you want to do things with the kids or not! lol The safest place to be so that you are virtually guaranteed to not have the kids around, and my favorite place on the ship, the Casino! But I am a casino freak anyway. that or going from one Trivia contest to another!
RoofingPrincess Posted November 16, 2011 #32 Share Posted November 16, 2011 read, eat, drink, repeat, repeat, repeat Were you watching Wrona & me on our transatlantic? We also threw in one additional activity; reading tended to lead to napping...
iceleven Posted November 16, 2011 #33 Share Posted November 16, 2011 I don't know what it is about being on the sea but I always seem to need a nap. At home, I rarely go to bed before 2am and never nap but feel like a zombie if I cannot at least get in 1 half-hour nap when on the ship. Sometimes its during the day in our room but more often it is after the T-pool and a sit in the steamroom before dinner.
CrusinAgain Posted November 16, 2011 #34 Share Posted November 16, 2011 Play cards or board or dice games, participate in any fun shipboard activities, go to the casino, check out the stores, catch up on movies. Its generally a sister cruise like it is again this year. We are past the pool stage.

NotWthOutablcony Posted November 16, 2011 #37 Share Posted November 16, 2011 NOTHING! Lol, except sitting out on the balcony with a cup of coffee whale and dolphin watching, getting into a nice food coma and taking a nap, then heading down to the casino for some slot play. Then its on to dinner, followed by a visit to the coffee shop for my traditional vanilla milkshake with 2 shots of espresso, play a little bit more in the casino, watch the 2 comedian shows, then its time to eat again, then bedtime. ibcnusoon Posted November 16, 2011 #39 Share Posted November 16, 2011 On our first sea day (cloudy) we slept late, went to sit-down dining for lunch, relaxed on our balcony, then went to the sports bar and ordered beers and watched the Giants/Pats NFL game. :p On our last sea day we slept late, go to sit-down dining for lunch, saw the Love and Marriage show, got the 5 treatement special in the spa, relaxed in the cabin, went to dinner, then packed. beachbum53 Posted November 16, 2011 #40 Share Posted November 16, 2011 We are a little different... we get up at the normal time and hit up all the trivia and games we can. In between we relax, talk, have some drinks... and hit up the next trivia. Winning a ship on a stick and eating well is our sea day priority... One other thing to add to that. Wasting our designated casino money to play bingo, and then swearing we won't do that again (until the next cruise):D.

I use bamboo or nylon circular needles so I don't set off security at the airports.

Sthomp Posted November 16, 2011 #45 Share Posted November 16, 2011 It's funny just how busy you can be relaxing on a sea day! We start the day with Bloody Marys or Mimosas on the balcony. Find a lounge by the pool and watch all the activities. Cool off in the pool. Drink cold beverages. Read. Snooze. More cold beverages. Casino time. Balcony time. Martini bar and sushi before dinner.
