eye4cruising Posted November 17, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2011 We are off on a Mexican Riv cruise, our first time to Mexico :D We are in PV for 12 hrs. Should I consider doing our shopping first or an excurision first? Any advice??
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 17, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2011 Either way is fine. If you are going to stores many don't open until 10:00 AM/11:00 AM. However, the area by the cruise ship terminal opens earlier than that and the one advantage going there first is that it will be far less crowded. cruiseapril Posted November 17, 2011 #6 Share Posted November 17, 2011 We do our excursions first- then we are flexible and relaxed about other activities, including shopping.

uppitycats Posted November 17, 2011 #9 Share Posted November 17, 2011 Shopping is totally incidental to anything else I'm doing while cruising.
Rare Hlitner Posted November 17, 2011 #10 Share Posted November 17, 2011 We are in PV for 2 months a year and seldom do any shopping (except for food for the Condo). Hank
Sea42 Posted November 18, 2011 #11 Share Posted November 18, 2011 Are you talking about ship or organized types of excursions? Or are you referring to going off on your own? When we go off on our own we always check the excursions the cruise ships are offering and plan our day doing the opposite. For example, if the ships tour go to local landmarks first and then head to the beach, we hit the beach first then tour the sites in the afternoon. We prefer to avoid the crowds as much as we can. Rare Hlitner Posted November 18, 2011 #13 Share Posted November 18, 2011 Thank you all for the replies.....I really enjoy the mens side, short sweet and to the point...."FORGET THE SHOPPING" LOL :D:D:D Its not just the man's point of view. DW would say the same. There is very little in PV we really need to buy. There is the usual tourist junk which we leave to the cruise ship passengers. The only thing we find worthwhile are some of the regional art (PV has many great art galleries) and some of the Huichol Indian works (amazing stuff). The flea markets can be fun, but we seldom buy anything since most of it is not worth the hassle to lug it home. Now from a man's point of view I will admit that a nice Cuban Cigar is nice for a change of pace....but we must smoke it in Mexico.

tip Posted November 18, 2011 #15 Share Posted November 18, 2011 Private Excursions first and then if you must, shopping. If you get delayed on a private excursion, you will have plenty of time built in and won't be doing the gangplank dash before "all aboard."
