rphgf Posted December 27, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2011 I am leaving for the cruise tomorrow. One member of our party just now asked me about getting a rum runner. Can these collapsible flasks only be bought online or is there any store that sells them? Thanks
paul929207 Posted December 27, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2011 Try Google to see if there are any stores near you to sell them.

6rugrats Posted December 27, 2011 #4 Share Posted December 27, 2011 You may want to try posting in what area you live so people might be able to suggest a store.
paul929207 Posted December 27, 2011 #5 Share Posted December 27, 2011 Or check the site for some of the big stores around you. Walmart, Target, etc.
paul929207 Posted December 27, 2011 #6 Share Posted December 27, 2011 Also try a big liquor store if you have any.
gerif Posted December 27, 2011 #7 Share Posted December 27, 2011 Also try a big liquor store if you have any. While I don't think the "branded" product is available in stores, large liquor stores do carry plastic flasks that are similar and serve the same purpose. cruiseco Posted December 27, 2011 #8 Share Posted December 27, 2011 Platypus, the large maker of hydration systems for hikers/bikers/runners, has a similar product for wine lovers so it you have a large sporting goods store nearby give them a shot. http://www.rei.com/product/781835/platypus-platypreserve-wine-preservation-system-27-fl-oz
TravlGrl Posted December 28, 2011 #9 Share Posted December 28, 2011 Yes! Start calling liquor stores. We've purchased them in local liquor stores, though their selection of sizes is more limited than what you can get online in advance. Call around first though so you don't waste time driving all over town. They're not a "staple" at all liquor stores, unfortunately.

micknjen Posted December 28, 2011 #11 Share Posted December 28, 2011 I bought collapsing water bottles from Office Depot for .99 each. They were in clearance section and work perfectily!

FlaGrl4Evr Posted January 2, 2012 #13 Share Posted January 2, 2012 We bought a set of 3 Rum-runners from Spencer Gifts in our local shopping Mall. Most major malls usually have a Spencers. It is one of those gag-gift type stores that sell really unique things. We paid about $13 for the set. :)

You actually found this brand at the dollar store??? If so, you should buy them up and resell them. We paid full price for this actual brand. sjcruiser Posted January 6, 2012 #18 Share Posted January 6, 2012 I purchased a set from the website, and didn't use it on my last cruise, so I gave them away to a first time cruiser who had no problem getting them onboard. I received an "identical" type of bottle through a promotion, but for our cruise in the summer, I'll order another set from the Rum Runner website. This is what I thought. I have a couple of months and I should have waited. I spent $17 ordering them online for 1 32oz, 1 16 oz and 2 8oz. If I end up seeing them at the dollar store I am going to feel ripped off.

Gordie Howe Posted January 12, 2012 #21 Share Posted January 12, 2012 I was reluctant to drink any of the local water ashore, so we just drank what we brought off the ship instead. You know where they get the - potable - water for the ship, right? ;)
Oshawapilot Posted January 12, 2012 #22 Share Posted January 12, 2012 You know where they get the - potable - water for the ship, right? ;) Distilled ocean water. I'd much rather drink that, actually, versus water from a water system of unknown quality with all the risks associated with it.

What are those (dirty) rubber hoses that lead from the docks to the ship that say "Potable Water" carrying? Don't tell me it's distilled on-board.

I wonder..how do you see the inside of those rubber hoses?
kayhold Posted February 7, 2012 #25 Share Posted February 7, 2012 Why not just pour it into an empty cork-able wine bottle, if you can take wine onboard?
