rosegrower Posted January 4, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2012 IIRC, there is usually one night when a barbeque is held on the Lido deck maybe on the night that we are in port until 11:00. I think that there is no service in the Lido itself for dinner. Is Canaletto still open? We are doing a sunset cruise excursion so will miss our early seating dinner. So I guess it is either PG or room service? DH is not a big fan of BarBQ food.

CruiserBruce Posted January 4, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2012 As KK said, yes. The Lido is closed on BBQ night, but, in the real sense, Cannaleto is not part of Lido. Yes, it is physically in the same room, but it is a sit down, order from a menu with service resturant, not a buffet like the Lido.
Typhoon1 Posted January 4, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 4, 2012 All alternative restaurants are open on BBQ night. The MDR is also open. We've been to the BBQ so many times, we usually eat in the MDR.
rosegrower Posted January 5, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted January 5, 2012 Thanks! So I can make a reservation for the Canaletto on embarkation day for a time that will work with our sunset cruise? That will be great and we will find another night for PG.

You are wise to make a reservation for the night you want as soon as you get on the ship.

It has become quite popular and we had trouble getting reservations since we didn't make them the first day.
George C Posted January 5, 2012 #9 Share Posted January 5, 2012 Tried Canaletto last month (on the Zuiderdam) and was pleasantly surprised and the food and service.
madera1 Posted January 6, 2012 #10 Share Posted January 6, 2012 What do they serve at the barbecue? Is it on all ships? We had a German dinner by the pool while on the Baltic cruise this summer and I cannot recall any barbecue on the cruise we took in 2010.
