Liberty of the Seas to Carnival Liberty...

Recommended Posts

OK so please tell me we are not crazy....but we just booked LOS 2/27-3/3/12 form Port Everglades and then we are heading to Miami on the 3rd...to board the Carnival Liberty...Are we crazy...I hope not...my husband and I are sailing on the LOS...and then my daughter is joining us on Carnival Liberty...we are extremely excited but have some questions...where is the best place to park other than the pier in Miami...is there a lot or garage that is close to the ship or should we park at the airport...We are guessing it is about a 45 minute drive...but we want to park and get to the ship as quickly as possible...any suggestions...

Any info on wither ship would be so helpful it has been about 3 years since we sailed either one...Thanks

Can anyone tell me does LOS still have self assist debarkation---we have not sailed for a few years so...any input on changes would be helpful. WE have been upgraded to a Promenade room..any thoughts...also when we ate ate at Johnny Rockets it was free with C&A coupon is that still the case

Yes the LOS has self debarkation. Please take advantage of it. The regular process is horrible. Ruined a perfectly good cruise on the Liberty for us. We were stuffed in the elevators and couldn't move for close to 45 minutes. The whole process took more than 2.5 hours.

Thanks for the input...do any of you know the time for self assist...when we get off the ship where can someone go to pick us up is there a separate area where they should park or do they pull up to the curb?---it has been a few years since we were at port everglades...so any input will be helpful...

For me 2 weeks ago self deparkation began at 7:30am, had to meet in Studio B then escorted to the gangway. Be early it is a letter system first to arrive are A then B so forth...if you are in a hurry. I was at the airport by 8am. Super awesome system!!!! Not sure about where to meet but taxis are lined down the block? I am sure there is a place for private drivers.

I have never stayed in a Promenade room, but saw the interior of them when we got off the Mariner last Sunday. They look nice and would be fun to watch the parades from the window if you don't care about taking pictures or if you have a young child who might not be able to stay awake that late to watch it on the Promenade. The Promenade Cafe (Deck 5) is the cafe open 24 hours for pastries, donuts, fruit cups, sandwiches, salads, pizza, and desserts. The C & A coupon for Johnny Rockets is 2 for 1 milkshakes. The food cost is $4.95 per person all-you-can-eat. Johnny Rockets is only open for lunch and dinner. Check the compass for hours on port days as they vary. Windjammer is open for dinner if you don't want to dress up and go to the MDR. They had a great Asian selection in Jade on the Mariner. Not sure if Adventure offers that or not. The kids club is open every day except for embarkation/disembarkation days. Check your compass for hours and times to pick up your kids.

I had us booked in a Promenade on the Liberty on 1-30, but then the price of a balcony dropped (you should watch for this!) and I was able to get a D2 for $200 total more than the Promenade. The balcony price dropped and then went back up within 24 hours so you really have to be obsessive about checking.

We talked to folks who had a Promenade and they really liked it. It seems like noise would be an issue, there is always music playing, but they said they didn't hear anything.

We had a departure time (not self-disembark, just regular) that was really early, and asked our fantabulous cabin attendant (Rosa) if she could help with a slightly later time, and she gave us tags that got us a departure of about 8:50. We had a nice breakfast, leisurely tidied the room and were off and through customs and into a cab bound for the Crown within an hour.

Your plan should be very do-able!

I have had a promendae on Liberty and never heard anything other than the Dreamworks Parade. I was directly above Sorrento's and it was honestly fine.

I was a bit concerned but decided to give it a try and am glad the extra sofa/window seat was awesome to have.

Have fun,

Patty
