The Zuiderdam is a Vista Class Ship and carries well over 1800 Passengers. It leaves on Saturday out of Vancouver. The VOLENDAM is an "R" class ship and carries about 1432 passengers and leaves on Wednesday. I would opt for the Volendam. It is a great ship.

I suppose everybody has a different view. I recently asked the same question to my TA for our May cruise. She said Zuiderdam, that's what I booked! I'm sure which ever will be a wonderfully cruise. :D

The main reasons we booked the Voldendam as opposed to the Zuiderdam was both size of the ship and the Wednesday departure. You can find cruise ship schedules for each port out there on the internet, and it will give you an idea of how much cruise traffic each port will see on the day you are there. It appears that in our case for our Wednesday departure, we are either the only ship or one of two ships in port.. Ketchikan is another story with 4 ships in port that day, but the idea of fewer people on both the ship and in port is what appealed to us, after we had decided upon itinerary. Good luck!

We were looking at those ships too, we chose the Zuiderdam more because the price was right. We could get more on the Zuiderdam-room wise.

Zuiderdam is newer and larger. However, either ship is fine. You might as well flip a coin.

I agree with Typhoon but if I had to chose it would be a Vista ship........like the Zuiderdam.

We have done both. We were disappointed with the Volendam. The ship was too small for us and the service was poor. We took the Zuiderdam last summer. We loved it. In fact we are going to take it again this Summer. Zuiderdam was larger and the service was exceptional. It was like night and day for us.
