Carnival, please control your CREW!!!!!

Uhhhh, Gimme a Break ! what is this with blaming the cruiser / poster for everything !

We had a cabin on the Verandah deck (8C ?) and lots of noise from the Lido / Pool deck above us.......

I believe people have the right to expect certain basics, no matter what they pay !

I think the OP has a right to be Very Very Upset [Ouote]

I simply made an observation. This is an open forum & I have a right just like anyone else to express my opinion. The OP poster has been known to make numerous negative comments about Carnival before even taking this cruise.

I started out cruising on the Rivera deck & and was woke up several times with crew doing repairs at 6:00am & performers practicing their routines in the show lounge directly above us. I did not complain because I was just happy to be on a ship. It was a minor inconvenience compared to the rest of a wonderful cruise. Sure there are isolated incidents that happen on every ship. This is not a perfect world we live in. If you go looking for fault...you will most likely find it.

I am sorry her sleep was disturbed but I also feel like the crew deserves to have a little fun after all their hard work of waiting on us week after week.

Crew: Party On....you deserve it!

Though this is starting to turn off the OP topic, I totally agree with you Brenda. If you aren't willing to take the good with the bad comments/opinions, don't post in an open/public forum. I also agree that there should be no name calling bad mouthing etc...but if one wants to agree to disagree, then so be it.

What gets me is the Name Calling...it goes on all the time....

Plus they take over entire posts and just overwhelm it.....

Am I the only one who feels this way ?

The other Day when "A Certain Poster" called someone a Whiner..(which goes on all the time)....i finally had enough and said something something in reaction........

AND I got an e-mail from Cruise Critic about MY Behavior ! There is obviously some Bias

I made on simple, common sense comment on this thread and get quoted & trashed for it. Sorry if my opinion differs from yours.

Lessons Learned: Dont book a Level 1 cabin, I have heard of Level 0 noises on other Threads, anything above riveria deck is ok.

Don't know about that.....maybe I've just been very lucky but on Triumph and Sensation we were on R deck and only had one time when some unknown kids were running down the passageway and being loud. Other then that it was very quiet and very restful.

From reading the rest of this thread I think it's time to get the campfire going with some marshmellows grab a guitar and start the sing-a-long:D

Merv: I had Camp Carnival running up & down the hall on Sensation....chanting at the top of their lungs when I was trying to sleep. I was located right down the hall from the Pursers desk but I didn't bother to complain. Guess it all depends on how you choose to deal with things. :)

I agree with the first poster and with Lizamm.....I've been on several cruises, one of them being sprink break.... On Carnival mind you..... and it was party central....lol.. But fun... Whether your on a cruise, at a hotel or your own apartment/home, there are certain rights everyone has... It's one thing to party and have a little noise but for it to go on and on, it's downright rude.. But that's one of things I have noticed in society with some folks lately, rudeness.....Alot of people don't think how their actions affect others.... It's a shame.... While we don't want to take the fun away from a vacation,etc..... we all should be considerate of each other...... And if a complaint is made, it should be handled. :)

We had a couple of problems on our first cruise. When we got back I contacted our TA and she had us write a letter and send it to her. She in turn wrote another letter and sent them both to Carnival. We were very happy with Carnival's response. We received a personal letter addressing each of our problems. A check refunding money for our transfer which we couldn't locate. Plus, they will have a free gift waiting for us in our cabin on our up coming cruise. So Carnival can be very helpful when it comes to taking care of problems from a cruise.

LOL, I knew the 'chair saving' note would spark some comments. OK, I admit it, I'm a chair hog.

All I'll say is, when I got up at 6:30, there were a good many chairs already spoken for shall we say.

As for moved items, we made sure NOT to use the traditional Carnival towels, brought our own bright orange ones. The three days that we did 'reserve' chairs, we never had them touched.

Now, when we went to lunch, after being on them for three hours or so, it was disconcerting to come back to find teenagers laying on our chairs AND our towels. I don't think that taking a lunch break constitutes chair hogging. Don't want to hijack the thread though, just a warning to watch those teens, they don't understand that laying on someone elses towel might be offensive.

In any case, I agree with other posters that the price of the room should not indicate the quality of experience from the consideration stand point. Unruly crew or passengers are uncalled for, and I'm sorry to hear about the noise problems, especially the drunks. Still, with over 3000 guests, I was impressed with how security kept things in order from what I saw.

Karl & Jamie

Went to LUNCH? How long were you gone from your chairs during lunch? Generally when we hit to road for lunch and we are going to the dining room or going to be gone for more than 20 - 30 minutes we pick up our towels and leave the chairs for the next person. There is no reason that all. the chairs should be taken on sea days. Yes, you may not get one directly by the pool, but you will always find one (especially on the topless deck). Sometimes it is much quieter up on the topless deck too.

Cruise critic is here to be open about any positive and negative comments. As with the real world, we normally hear about more negative then postive issues. This goes with work, family, vacation, or any thing else related.

I do feel bad that this cruiser did not anticipate how the management team would react to this situation. I have had rooms in the past that I did not perfer. Sometimes we can learn about not booking certain cabins on cruisecritic while other times we must learn this ourself. For instance, I would never book a cabin under the lido deck or above/below the galley or casino. There are many other places I would perfer not to book.

Bottom line: It appears this cruiser had a wonderful time despite a few occurences. File your complaint with Carnival (if you need). Don't worry about this and put it in the past. It is not worth thinking about something in the past too much as it will just upset you more. Think about the good times despite the management problem on the Glory.

Crew: You are entitled to have parties as you work very hard. However, if there are complaints from a customer then it may be time to quiet down a little bit.

Once again, I am sorry to hear about management. Don't let this determine if you are going to cruise with CCL again...

Earplugs would have solved two of the problems. Sorry you had a bad time.

Yep, earplugs may have helped with the noise, but they might also have kept the poster from hearing her wakeup call! I worked on the ships for a year and yes, most days averaged 16 hours and personally all I wanted to do when I got off was sleep! But for those crew who don't they still should not be allowed to disturb the passengers who are on that ship paying their salaries.

B, Cat Daddy was across the hall from Camp Carnival.

He said they were a little loud from time-to-time but I think he enjoyed the cruise anyway.:D Whatcha think ?

They looked like they were having such a good time marching everywhere doing that "Chant" thing that I just couldn't get upset with them.:)

In case anyone didn't know...I am the poster voyagerfl referred to who used the term 'whiner' and I still believe in that case, rightly so.

There is a huge difference bewteen posting a gripe and getting all "I want compensation." over it ...those supposed 'reviews' where people want their entire cruise cost refunded turn me off. GNO's account does not fit that category.

GNO's thoughts on her cruise are a good review of her Carnival cruise....to me, if you can learn something from someone else's experience it's great that they share the good, the bad and the ugly. She did this without whining over it....but then, although I tend to disagree with GNO on many subjects, (LOL...Ok, almost ALL subjects ;) )I'd NEVER consider her a whiner. I agree whole heartedly that she should be upset. I would have as well. Once she made the complaint, something should have been done.

I also know that because of what she wrote I will be very careful when selecting a cabin, so although this was a difficult situation for you GNO, thanks for making us aware.

I'm glad at least that you were happy with some other aspects of the cruise, and I whole heartedly agree that Carnival ships, although equipped with 'kids camps' are NOT meant for a family vacation. I've said that all along.

This 'family' thing did not work in Vegas and I don't imagine it will work long term for Carnival either.

I would think serious flirting with a crew member could get you an invite.

I find it hard to believe camp carnival would be making that noise at 1:00 am in the morning? Does it not close at 10:00 pm?

For a fee (around 35 dollars) Camp Carnival throws a "stay awake all night" party for the 9 to 12 age group. Our son has done this on most 5 to 7 day cruises. They are returned to the state "room around 8 a.m. but the night is filled with a lot of activities ALL OVER the ship!

The "regular" Camp ends at 10 but the "babysitting/fee" time continues until 3:00am. Most of the time the evening stuff was calm but they do a host a late night party for the kids which is more "rowdy" and usually includes a jaunt to the midnight buffet.
