what is your favorite DCL events/activities???

So much depends on what you enjoy on a cruise. I enjoy staying on the ship as much as possible (except at Castaway Cay), exploring the ship and doing the little activities. So Cruisin' for Trivia, Galley Tour, Theater behind-the-scenes Tour, the Art of the Theme ship tour (not the basic one available on boarding day - this one is more in-depth later in the cruise). The things I make sure I don't miss are relaxation time on the Deck 4 wooden chairs, quiet time in the Quite Cove Cafe in the adult area, listening to the piano player in Sessions (on the classic ships) - stuff like that. But if you give more of what interests you I might have some other suggestions.

Where do you sign up for these tours?

Thanks,

It'll say in the Navigator. Some you need to purchase or just obtain a ticket in advance at Guest Services. Some, like the Art of the Ship Theme Tour, you just show up at the location where they meat (in that case the Meridian lounge). In all cases just look at the Navigator and it'll tell you what to do. It's delivered to your room the previous night so you can plan out the next day.

Doobie.

The galley tour and theatre behind the scenes tour are only available for Platinum Castaway Club members, and only on random cruises.

The Art of the Theme Ship tour is available (usually) a couple of times during a 7 night cruise. You don't need tickets for it, you just show up where the Navigator says to be. On our Magic cruises, it's started at Palo.

Is this something new? I'm not a Platinum and I've taken both tours (galley multiple times). They were listed in the Navigator but I know policies change. Has this one? I just did a quick look at another site and see several saying you are correct on the Theatre tour being Platinum only and the Galley tour is completely gone. Bummer, I really enjoyed them both and Platinum is still a ways off!

We love the sail away party, Pirates night.

Late afternoons by the pools when everyone has gone to get ready for early dining we have the place almost to ourselves.

We do go to the Until we meet again party but that is sad when its over.

It happened sometime after 2008 (when we were able to do the theatre tour) and before 2011 (not available when we cruised in Oct).

We were able to do a galley tour on our WBTA in 2010, but I think it was a special thing, because of the length of the cruise.

  • 2 weeks later...

Since our last DCL cruise ( circa 2008) we have discovered we love trivia!

Can someone share if it is well attended? Do they have progressive trivia (teams over a few days period)?

Where do they usually have it? A few times a day or just once?

Thanks!

I took a galley tour in 2010 on the Magic which was a 7 night cruise. I also took a galley tour in February 2012 on the Dream, but it was for Platinum and above only. The CM told us that on the shorter cruises the tours are only for Platinum and above.

For adults only......I always get a good laugh at the "If I was not upon the sea" skit that is done by the adult entertainment staff the last night of the cruise. What a hoot!! I also enjoy brunch at Palo!

Last January, on the Dream, I danced with those girls after they performed the "If i was not upon the sea" skit :p the lighthouse keeper, the casino hostess and the tailor. They were so cute !! :)
