kruisecat Posted April 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2012 Ok, so this morning in my spin class we were talking about cruising and one of my participants said that on his last cruise his bar bill was $7,000  It got me wondering how much others spend. Hubby and I have never had a bill over $600 but we are not drinkers and most of the time it's spa services for me :D Just curious...
kelkel2 Posted April 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2012 We bought a ton of pictures and quite a few mixed drinks and buckets of beer and I think ours was close to $400. This year we're getting bon voyage liquor to help cut down on the cost. Yes I will still buy a mixed drink but hopefully not as many. I can't imagine spending that much
skippyy Posted April 10, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2012 I'm a very private person and prefer not to reveal the amount of my bar bill. I will submit that it was bound in leather and personally delivered by the Captain and the Hotel Manager. I currently have a team of accountants reviewing it for accuracy. I brief examination suggets I could have gone on another cruise based on gratuities alone
angel2wyld2 Posted April 10, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2012 We are not big drinkers so most spent on just alcohol/soda/bottled water is around $100 for a 7 day cruise
sgcass123 Posted April 10, 2012 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2012 Dh and I went on a 4 day cruise with my sis and bil last April to the Bahamas.....between wine at dinner, other alcohol, pictures, 2 shore excursions for each of us, and gratuities, we spend a little less than $1000. We have a week long cruise booked this summer for us and 2 kids to the southern Caribbean with 5 ports of call......I'm hoping to everything is less than $4000.....it would be great if it was around $3000, but I'm not holding my breath! RTRMom Posted April 10, 2012 #6 Share Posted April 10, 2012 Well, because we cruised with our son, we always bought a ton of pictures....400 in just pictures and photo stuff (canvas...etc). We probably spent about 100 or so at the bar at those times. But I told my husband I am going to drink this cruise, since it's just the two of us this time. And we never drink when not on vacation, so I plan on having all the frozen drinks I can have. So I will tell you when I get back how much our bar Bill this time. Lol. I expect 200-300 on the three day cruise for the bar :)
cruisergrandma Posted April 10, 2012 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2012 On a 7 day cruise our bar bill runs between $5 - $10. All we drink is a few cokes. Cruise lines lose money on us!
ibcnusoon Posted April 10, 2012 #8 Share Posted April 10, 2012 Our bar bill was less than $50 for 2 welcome aboard drinks upon arriving on the ship and a bucket of beer in the EA Sports bar during the Giants football game. We don't buy liquor from the bar, we purchased a bottle of vodka through Bon Voyage, brought soda, water and 2 bottles of wine on board, and bought a wine package for dinner. kruisecat Posted April 10, 2012 Author #9 Share Posted April 10, 2012 I was just shocked by the dollar amount! It was $1000 per day and he didn't even flinch  I think hubby would throw me overboard and try to collect the insurance money to cover that bill ;) Thanks to those sharing! You're asking about the total s&s charges. Our total bill is usually $7/800.00. Most of that is alcohol (his). As the years go on we spend less for sovenirs. kruisecat Posted April 10, 2012 Author #13 Share Posted April 10, 2012 I can't imagine spending the much. That had to include spa packages, casino..etc No, he said it was all alcohol! He had a bottle of Dom every night in the dinning room and lots and lots of other heavy drinking. I asked him if he even remembered this cruise :D I'm with you, I could never spend that kind of money on booze. We didn't spend that amount on our 11 day Alaskan cruise/vacation for the entire vacation let alone just the bar bill.

skridge Posted April 10, 2012 #19 Share Posted April 10, 2012 I have been on two 5 night cruises that I had a $700.00 bar tab for both. It was 95% bar tab. The other 5% was duty free alcohol we bought in the duty free shop.
Room Service! Posted April 10, 2012 #20 Share Posted April 10, 2012 My niece and nephew racked up $10,000.00 (YIKES) on their s&s card for a 7 day. It was their first cruise. They did have 2 teenagers with them. They did a few excursions. My niece likes to shop. They both like to gamble. The gambling is what did the most damage. On this cruise they 'won' a ' free' cruise. I don't think it was free at all. On their 'free' cruise they avoided the casino like the plague. |
Seaman123 Posted April 10, 2012 #21 Share Posted April 10, 2012 Wife and I are bringing a couple bottles of wine on board plus a few beers and umbrella drinks every day. Plus three days in port drinking their booze...better not have bar bill over $500.00 for a week!!
askimdog Posted April 10, 2012 #22 Share Posted April 10, 2012 I love drink, I like a drink after work everyday and have a few on weekends. But, I will not pay robbery prices on a cruise. I know some say the price is not that bad, where I live a good craft beer in a bar is 5 bucks top, most 3-4, and a hard drink the same at most. I drink wine I carry on, and the wine bottle my non-srinking wife carries. Then I have a BV bottle delivered and drink that on ship, and buy beer in Port at a grocery/liquor store where a local beer can be had for 1-2 buck each. I had to try Red Frog last cruise, paid 16 a pitcher...ugh!! It was just okay but the price hurt. This lifted my families S&S bill to $26.00 ( not counting gratuities). The largest we had on 3 cruises. Cruises are afordable, if you stay away from ship drink prices and over priced photos.
mckrob1981 Posted April 10, 2012 #23 Share Posted April 10, 2012 Our bar bill for a 7 day cruise was $2000 for three of us. We drink beer only no mixed drinks or drinks of the day. There may have been 3 or 4 frozen mudslides included as I like to have one of those as my dessert after dinner.
elcuchio24 Posted April 10, 2012 #24 Share Posted April 10, 2012 I can't imagine it was 7k, even with pricey drinks, unless he was paying for 8 people or somthing. Our total s&s bill including tips is usually around $400 for 7 nights (for 2 people)
