How big was your bar bill?

On a 7 day cruise our bar bill runs between $5 - $10. All we drink is a few cokes. Cruise lines lose money on us!

They don't make much on us either but ours tends to be a bit higher. We don't do pictures, bingo games and we don't drink a lot so our bar bill is probably around $300 for a 7 day - we like to do a few paid dinners and have a couple drinks and maybe one bottle of wine. For our fall cruise which is 4 days we spend about $100 tops.

Ok so here's my update :D

I confirmed that the $7,000 was JUST for booze...no excursions, pictures, spa or casino. It was for him and his wife and was exclusively top shelf. He did also confirm that there is not a whole lot of this cruise that he remembers...LOL

Thanks to everyone for being willing to share what they spend! I know now that hubby and I are right where we should be :)

for 2 of us...and we also smuggled several bottles of alcohol each on board to drink in our rooms. Hey, I don't mind paying for drinks, but it is a pain to have to keep ordering drinks when we sit on our balcony enjoying it!

And now that I think about this, kind of scary! :o

We always "smuggled" some wine aboard and never ran into difficulty before ssailing the Enchantment this year. We have been on other RCL and Celebrity ships without having a problem. This year they wasted a ridiculous amount of time xraying everyone's luggage and found our wine. The security people were really nasty down on deck 1 and I had to empty out a large suitcase to find the last bottle. I complained to guest services and, ironically, they gave me a bottle of wine to make up for the inconvenience.

If you see my other posting about the ridiculous amount the RCL charges for wine, perhaps if prices were reasonable, passengers would not be tempted to smuggle wine aboard. At least Holland and other lines let you take a bottle or two.

Until the booze prices come out of the stratosphere of fancy land restaurant prices, we will proudly keep our bills at $0.

Our last cruise we Put in $500 to S&S(100 per day lol), towards the end had to add an extra 100$(bought 3 pics & 2 liquor bottles for home). Now, weve calculate $100 per day and an extra $150 for pictures and any random things other than casino and drinks:rolleyes:. Im hoping we wont use all the money in our upcoming sailing but If we do then its ok cuz its what we had estimated either way lol.

Our charges for drinks on the Fantasy last month (5-night cruise) totaled around $160. That included six bottles of wine (plus the three we were allowed to bring) plus a couple of drinks in a bar one night. DH kept telling me to let his mother take an opened bottle of wine back to her cabin. On the next to the last afternoon, I finally did. She polished it off. So I'm thinking our bill would have been more if we had let her drink through the wine without rationing it out.

We did a 6 day sailing, we bought 1 bottle tequila, 1 bottle Jamison for the room. I pre-ordered $200 in drink tickets (all used) I bought 1 drink of the day, 1 monkey head, 1 long island ice tea, 1 double shot margarita, 5 margarita's,,4 bloody mary's and screwdriver's, 1 martini, 1 coconut rum drink in Jamaica (everyting else was included) & we spent approx. $500 with tips. We took 2 bottles of champagne and won a bottle.

Still don't remember getting a good buzz.:p

This time though my 21 yr old son will be joining us...I am very afraid:eek:

Cheers,

We did a 10 day transatlantic bringing the Magic home to Galveston. My total bill was over $2000. We did have one fishing excursion, the steak house and italian restaurant, maybe $150 in pictures and another $100 in shopping. I am sure our bar bill was at least $1000, that was for hubby and me and morning bloody marys for my 81 year old mother. Guess we are just lushes, but always have a wonderful time.

We were about 1200 on the Allure a few months ago. That included the steakhouse, the italian specialty restaurant, laundry, minibar.... I think alcohol ended up being about 800 of that.

We will be on the dream in a few weeks so I went ahead and purchased 750 credit already. Hopefully there won't be too much more!

Mine was $3,875. I won the Carnival Poker Pro Challenge this year on the Dream. I won $50,000. I was buying a lot of drinks.

I was on that ship and interviewed you after the win. Are you ready to defend your title, but this time on the Magic out of Galveston?

We shall join your lush club, our 7 day cruise has never been under $1000. We have the 4 day Imagination coming up on the 24th and we are heading for Guest Services and pay the $42.95 plus tips per day. At least now we know how much our cruise is going to be and no surprises when the bill is put in our mailbox.lol:D

Ok, so this morning in my spin class we were talking about cruising and one of my participants said that on his last cruise his bar bill was $7,000

It got me wondering how much others spend. Hubby and I have never had a bill over $600 but we are not drinkers and most of the time it's spa services for me :D

Just curious...

Hi Kruisecat,

During our last voyage (18-day Princess) the 'Bar Bill' was a little over $1,200..

This past cruise DH and I had our largest bar bill ever, $250 for the 2 of us on a 7 day. We usually buy through BV and drink at port where it is cheaper. This next cruise we are looking at buying the bar package. It would be nice to just go to the bar, order a drink, and not worry about cost.
