How big was your bar bill?

The bar part of my bill on the last cruise was $0.00. I've had it as high as over $30 on one cruise (soda card). Not being a drinker sure saves a ton of money. I had a few drinks at a cocktail party that didn't go on our S&S account, and those drinks threw me for a loop. I guess I just don't understand the appeal. Give me Pepsi, and I couldn't be happier.

I look at the balcony room as the cheapest part of the cruise and they know it!!!!

Would never spend a dime on pics and they seem to know that. Casino....wow free drinks really....bonus round earned.....buckets of beer poolside....is vacation.

But figure cruise x drinks x casino= 3.15. But just put it on the card and accountant pays it so don't even look. Still bet I have 3 statements in various luggage.

Problem is can't go for a drink and. Not buy a round for your friends???

I've only done one cruise but we had the open bar card so no bar bill. I did total our receipts and the two of us had about $1500 worth, not including gratuities (included in our bar package). $200 of that was bottled water! We did have a $50 bill because we bought our bartender a carton of cigarettes but I don't do pics and we shopped at the ports. We have another open bar cruise booked in November but the travel agent said carnival was discontuing the package in 2013!

I budget about $90/day for DH and I, but we spend about $75/day (we carry on our bottle of wine pp and sometimes have drink coupons that we get with our Carnival MC rewards and we try to go to the past guest party or the fun farewell party for free drinks).

This is just bar tab (quote above). Our total S&S will also include 1 or 2 photos...no excursions (only did 1 CCL excursion on our 4 cruises)...no Spa...I spend about $60-80 on slots and bingo (DH doesn't do these) and I may get souvies from the gift shop (but not too much...though DH did buy me a diamond ring on 1 cruise and that really jacked up our S&S bill). If the kids are with us, they get candy from the bins and choc covered strawberries from the coffee bar as well as soda cards. The kids will use their cash for the arcade.

I am about to, in 4 days :D, go on a cruise with my mom. This will be different as she also likes to gamble. She plans on spending $50/day in the casino and I hope to stay around $20/day. We'll play some bingo too...at least I will. No spa and no excursions booked, but I do have the steakhouse booked for the very 1st time (but we have $100 OBC to cover that and a game of bingo). I used my CCL MC rewards to cover our tips and still had enough rewards to get drink coupons (4 soda and 4 bar) and I pre-bought 2 more sets of drink coupons plus we are both carrying on a bottle of wine. I will still probably get a pic or 2. I wonder how much we will spend on a bar tab...I'm figuring about another $300 for the both of us. And we're both bringing $300 in cash to spend in port and on extra tips.

I rarely spend more than a 100 for a bar bill--first we always bring a few bottles of wine with us and drink it in the room before dinner. No problem on most lines on RCL we pack in our checked luggage---Also have never had any problem bring on a flask of my favorite scotch. Might buy a martini or two during the cruise.

To those who spend a lot on shore excusions do some reseach on line about the ports and u can do most of the stuff on your own and at a lower price, just do the research

Wish others had package prices like Celebrity. Make it easier to pay up front and not get slammed at the end of the cruise

Pretty entertaining that last morning to wonder the halls and see people looking bug-eyed at their S&S settlement:)

I was charged $10,000 for a glass of champagne on the Explorer (plus the 15% gratuity). I still have the receipt - which gives me a good chuckle every now and then. It took the bartender about a half hour to reverse the charge (he had to call management first).

In reality, my bar bill is usually around $150 in addition to a wine package (usually five bottles for a 7 night cruise). Always find the beer buckets a good deal.

Always looking forward to the next cruise!!

We usually take 12 day cruises and our bar bill is always $0000!! Here is why:

We saw a bottle of wine that we always buy at home at the champagne bar on the Enchantment in January. We asked the price for a glass and they told us $18.50. Astounded, we asked if that wasn't the price for a bottle. No, the bartender checked and said the bottle cost was $79.50. At home, we pay $5.99 for a bottle of that exact wine and get a 15% discount for an entire case for a total of $71.30 for a full case plus 7% tax which equals $76.30. Our price includes tax and duty which the ship does not pay. In other words, they are marking up those prices by almost 15 times retail!!!

Moral of the story - we never purchase booze aboard a ship!! Also, we just became Diamond RCCL members so we will get free wine each night.:)

If you add up all my cruises....about 5 of them....for me and my husband....the grand total bar bill was $0.

$0.00. All that goes on my SS account is the tips, minus the OBC from overpayment of taxes if any.

I do however bring some booze on and make my own drinks, and my allowed wine of course which is very cheap arbor mist(more like a wine cooler). If I was caught smuggling I would not drink at all. It's not a big deal, because I do not usually drink at home.

The last cruise I brought too much alcohol, and did not want to bring it home. Boy was I a mess on the last night.

for 2 of us...and we also smuggled several bottles of alcohol each on board to drink in our rooms. Hey, I don't mind paying for drinks, but it is a pain to have to keep ordering drinks when we sit on our balcony enjoying it!

And now that I think about this, kind of scary! :o

hello fellow cruiser....please forgive my ignorence, but what is bon voyage liquor?

I've only been on three cruises all through Carnival and have not heard of this. Is bon voyage liquor offered via Carnival or am I totally missing the boat (pun intended) on this one?

BTW... First cruise... bar bill was kinda low did most of drinking at Senior Frogs in port/s and had several at the free liquor session (captions party)...Second cruise we took our kids and didnt drink much if at all. Third cruise no kids, bar bill around $600.00 on ship and enjoyed our time on shore too. Had a lot of fun! and made a lot of new friends. What more could one ask for in a vacation?

My brothers bar bill alone was $1127. for the week. Excluding excursions, purchases, dr. visit, meds, and anything else.

Princess has soft drink plans starting at $39.99/pp for the week I think.

The only deal at the bars are the buckets of beer, buy a bucket get a bottle free.

They also have a punch card, that when you fill it up, gets thrown into a drawing to cover the entire bar bill for the cruise.

I know Celebrity, they offer drink options, that if you drink anything other than water/tea/coffee, makes sense to get, so you don’t have to worry.

Not sure about other cruise lines...
