sivyaleah Posted April 17, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2012 We sail on 5/5 to Bermuda on the Explorer for 5 nights. I suddenly realized that it's Cinco de Mayo :D Does RC do anything special for holidays like this? I've been sailing on NCL for a long time and I know they would. Last cruise I took on them was during Halloween and they turned that into a lot of fun for the guests. I wondered especially if they might have a special dinner planned in the MDR instead of their usual one. Thanks!

Considering it isn't considered a holiday in Mexico, I doubt it is celebrated in Bermuda. Perhaps if you were sailing to Kansas City, Hallmark might be celebrating it. sivyaleah Posted April 17, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted April 17, 2012 LOL, I just thought since it was sort of a celebratory thing nearly everywhere these days they might (at least, it sure is around NY/NJ!).
tahqa Posted April 17, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 17, 2012 I can tell you that last year I was in Cozumel, on Oasis, on Cinco De Mayo and there were no special celebrations.

I suppose if you went inland to Puebla, there might be a celebration. As far as I know, that's the only place in Mexico that recognizes the 5th of May as anything other than the day between the 4th and the 6th. Cinco de mayo was invented in southern California (go figure);)

Loyal2RCCL Posted April 17, 2012 #7 Share Posted April 17, 2012 Since Richard Spacey is now CD on the Explorer I would assume he would throw a Cinco de Mayo party.. Ritchie is never one to miss an opportunity throw a party. :D
Rare A&L_Ont Posted April 18, 2012 #8 Share Posted April 18, 2012 I think they are selling cervezas, buy the bucket you get one free:D. They also also celebrate little less known holidays like Monday or Tuesday on a cruise ship;)
