Just got the upsell!

We are on the Jewel LA to YVR. We started in a mini suite, moved up to an SF aft then an SE forward, and then I got the call for an owners suite 9004. I jumped on it but now I feel that once we experience that we will now have to mortgage the house to cruise again. Can anyone describe to me the experience in the haven/courtyard?

Just popped on here to offer my congratulations, I love to hear of upsells. Then spent 10 minutes trying to figure out what YVR is!

 

Anyway, I have never been in a suite before, but will be on my next cruise, so have been reading about the perks. What I am looking forward to the most is breakfast and lunch in Cagneys, and the coffee machine that will be in the room.

 

There are a lot of threads on suite perks, you can do a search and find them, as I don't know what all Haven guests get besides the standard perks, butler & concierge, fruit and sparkling wine upon embarkation. And a bouquet of fresh flowers in your room, and treats delivered to your room each evening, etc., etc., etc.

 

Have a fabulous cruise, and enjoy the suite.

Congrats on the upsell. We got the same call a few years ago to the OS on the pearl. We loved the courtyard, a quiet place to relax. plenty of loungers and a small pool. I loved the private deck too, no one ever used it. And I ate way too many cookies and gummie bears....

Ditto!...Because the OS in at the front of the ship, you will easily burn off those "extra" calories walking up to the Haven complex :p

 

One tip for the OS on a Pacific Coastal cruise…the waters may get quite rough and the suite gets really rocky, so have some ginger gum or ginger altoides with you:)

We are in that cabin on the Alaska cruise starting the 19th (got an upsell) and found this video of the cabin on the other side of the ship. Same room arrangement just flipped. Enjoy!

Congrats on the upsell. Curious where you were before the upsell as I saw that cabin lingering on the website. We have a roll call going if you have not already seen that. Perhaps we'll see you in the haven-or you may never want to leave your beautiful cabin.

How are the Haven suites for the cruise? Still pretty rocky or no? I'm also on the YVR to LA in my first Haven Penthouse (2 BR) suite and, while I've been in the OS, I've not been on a ship with a courtyard, I wanted to be right at the courtyard so I could experience it more!

This will be our first Haven Suite, but we were in the Garden Villa on the Star (which is also mid ship deck 14) from La to YVR and we hardly felt any rocking. I agree that being right at the courtyard with easy access will garner much more use!

However I was in the Haven with a g/f and found we tended to stay in courtyard more and sort of isolated ourselves from the cruise. I wouldn't do haven again. But I love my butlers and I love when they bring me wings and cake after I get home from the casino at 3ish. I also love when I havea med cruise and get breakfast in suite so I can take my time getting ready for crazy days in Italy or wherever. I have been in haven owners suite aft suites and love the 2bdrm suites the most

Can you please explain what an "upsell" is? How does one go about getting on a list or whatever for that?

 

An upsell is an offer that comes from NCL, by phone or by email, and usually goes through your TA if you didn't book direct. Typically they call and offer you a better category of cabin for a discounted price. There is no list you can get on, and it's quite a mystery as to whom they select to make the offers to. Usually they start with the top suites and move down the list, depending upon how the cruise was selling and what categories they have openings in.

 

This department doesn't accept incoming phone calls, and usually does most of their calling within a week of the cruise date.
