New Suite Perk

When you get to your suite is there a list of the perks or do you just have to know what you are entitled to? I printed them out off of Princess' website but some things need more clarification. For example by request we can get canapés as an hors d'oerve. When do we order? On formal night we can get either chocolate dipped strawberries or individual chocolates. How do we request and when which we prefer (dh doesn't like strawberries)? We can make a reservation for anytime dining... how far in advance do we do this?

Thanks.

We just got off a cruise and several nights during our cruise we requested the chocolate covered strawberries and received them.pj. Just ordered the day before with the order form in the room. Enjoy. pj

Although it doesn't say so, I am guessing that JS are NOT included in this perk?? Anyone know?? Thanks.

If by junior suites, you mean mini-suites, then they are not included in the suite perks...pj

I just got off the Caribbean Princess and the no-charge for the specialty dining rooms on the first night was not mentioned either by the steward or by anyone else. It was not listed in the booklet list of perks that was in the cabin either. As mentioned by another poster, we got that perk at Sabattini's only, and only on the first night with Amex Platinum. pj

We had "Suite Priority Tender tickets" this year they added suite and we did not get priority tendering, the person did not know or want to know what it meant, asked to see our card, said GS and the tickets didn't mean anything, so we waited for over an hour1/2 with everyone else in a que. This was on the Grand. We were just going over to Princess Cays, not like we needed to be somewhere. Other people behind us were suprised they did not put us with one of the next tenders going over. We sat with some really nice people so the time went fast. We waited until after 10:30am thinking everyone would already be on the island. Our second leg we decided to wait until the afternoon and no lines.

We have been getting this through our AMEX Platinum Card as well, but have found on every trip they were willing to let us pick the night. We just called and asked as soon as we got onboard.

If you don't mind me asking who did you call. Everytime we have used this bennie from PLat AX is is tho the people who work at Sabitinis have never even heard of it. Even tho we do bring the voucher that was delivered to our cabin.

Hi, I am using mine this upcoming cruise. It is great to get double points for the whole trip--what you paid for before and after. I like the 300 on board credit for our WS room we will get. I also paid for my parents room and they received a two category upgrade. For many reasons, I will not leave home without it!

  • 3 weeks later...
Sorry if this has been mentioned before but I was just checking the list of the suite perks on the Princess web site and found this:

NEW! Complimentary cover charge for one of the specialty restaurants on embarkation evening

Does that mean that my dh and I can go to either Sabatini's or the Crown Grill and not have to pay for it? If so, which is the more preferred restaurant?

Thanks.

We just got off the Star Princess yesterday. We were in a suite and went to the Crown Grill on Sunday (first night out) and did not have to pay a cover charge. It was a great perk.:)

I don't understand why Princess can't do a better job of communicating to the folks that work on their ships. It is disappointing that passengers have to learn about the perk and then tell the ship's staff!!!!!!!

This reminds me of the constant battle over lunch in the MDR on embarkation day!!

Come on Princess!!!!! I think it is time to get your act together! How hard is it to send a communication to the ships????

Is there such a thing on Princess? On Carnival, no such luck -- it's off to fight for a table in the buffet area. NCL has it down, as all suite guests are walked onto the ship and escorted to Cagney's for a nice lunch.

Certainly on the Grand on 2nd June (1 day after the perk was added) they knew all about it. There was a letter in my suite telling me of it. Went to Crown Grill the first night, asked me for my card to charge the supplement (I didnt say anything at this point) and within seconds he came back and said 'as you are in a suite there is no charge for the first night'.

Yes, 1 of the MDR's is open until 1PM on embarkation day.

That's a rather early close, but at least one is open!

What time does embarkation typically start - and is it handled differently (first on?) for suite guests?

Thanks,

Tom

I can only say what happens in the UK and Venice, never boarded at a US port........ I usually arrive before boarding starts, checkin via the priority line (your boarding pass will have 'Preferred checkin' across the top). Usually then I have been given a card for the first group to board. So just take a seat and wait for the few minutes.

If boarding has started then I have always been told 'just go straight through'.

In UK at Southampton boarding usually starts at 11:30, or very close to it. Latest I have seen was 3 weeks ago when it started at 11:45.

Thanks. Those times sound like what I've experienced with other lines.

Of course, on Princess you can go straight to your room to look in wonderment at the spaciousness of your suite and bathroom, and the double width balcony. I have heard that some lines actually block access to the cabins until they are ready so you have to drag all your stuff with you around the ship.

Even if rooms are not tecnically ready you can still drop your hand luggage off in them before dashing off to the MDR for lunch.

Most sailings we've been on have you wait until about 1:30 before you can go to your cabins... though if we're hauling a bunch of stuff, we usually do slip into the room early to drop off our stuff!

That's nice that Princess, for the most part, is REALLY ready when they start debarkation!

Typically Princess boarding will start around 11:30. There is a separate waiting area for Platinum, Elite and Suite cruisers and they receive priority boarding. If there is a Bon Voyage Experience group they will board first and sometimes we have seen a large wedding party get priority boarding but you should be on board with your carryon bags dropped off in your cabin by about noon. On our five boardings since Princess opened up the DR for lunch for boarding passengers on Embarkation Day this has been the case and we have been in the DR by about 12:15. The Embarkation Day lunch menu is good and the orange souffle or Nutella ice cream for dessert are not to be missed IMHO.

Does anyone know what the pillow menu is?

Does it offer choice of pillows?

Does anyone know what the choices are?

Thanks much...

I have never seen an actual pillow menu but the steward told us they have feather pillows as well as neck pillows if we should need them.
