mresera Posted May 31, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 31, 2012 We have a relatively tight transfer time from the ship to the airport on the day we arrive in Rome this summer. Are we better off using Celebrity arranged transportation or a private company like Rome Cabs with very good reviews. Rome Cabs is certainly cheaper. Would we disembark first if we purchased ship transfers from celebrity? Does it matter? Thanks.
Rare cruisestitch Posted May 31, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 31, 2012 What time is your flight? Is it within Europe or to the US?
mresera Posted May 31, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted May 31, 2012 The flight is at 1130 to US.
diesel1973 Posted May 31, 2012 #4 Share Posted May 31, 2012 If I remember correctly a couple days before the end of the cruise you will get a form asking you when you need to disembark so choose accordingly. Also if you use X transfers you are at their mercy according to their schedule. I would use a private service and to keep the cost down try to form a group of 6 people. We used romelimousineplus and were very satisfied with them. In fact we used them for all our transfers in Rome(6 of us) and if you mention C.C. or Trip Adviser you will get an additional discount!:):):)
Shooraq Posted May 31, 2012 #5 Share Posted May 31, 2012 You will get a disembarkment form during your cruise asking what time you need to get off the ship to make a private transfer. We put down 6:30am and got luggage tags to accomodate. Simple and easy. Go with Rome Cabs! :)
Rare ghstudio Posted May 31, 2012 #6 Share Posted May 31, 2012 2 people in a private car will cost less than Celebrity charges...and it will take you to the correct terminal in less time. There is no reason to even consider taking the Celebrity provided buses.
Mr. Click Posted May 31, 2012 #7 Share Posted May 31, 2012 What ghstudio said... go with Rome Cabs. We used them last year and some of our group had early departure times. Our driver was ready and waiting when we got off the ship and he made sure to drop those with the least time first. You cannot ask for better service than Rome Cabs. We found some folks on our Roll Call to share costs with and that made it even cheaper.
