bbsteh Posted June 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2012 I would like to fly to Hawaii, spend a couple of days, cruise Hawaii, and cruise back to the west coast somewhere, to California or Canada. How do we keep the cost down? Flying to Hawaii one way will cost more than a roundtrip ticket. Are there travel deals that can include airline tickets from the west coast one way? I haven't called anyone, just checked online for prices.
Rare Essiesmom Posted June 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2012 The first thing you have to do is find a cruise that does that. there aren't many, because it violates the Passenger Vessel Services Act to transport passengers in a foreign flagged vessel between two US ports without visiting a distant foreign port, which means South America. Sometimes a ship will reposition to Alaska/Vancouver by way of Hawaii, especially if coming from Australia. Friends recently did a cruise on Celebrity Century, flying to HI, and then on return to the 'states' they had to disembark in Ensenada. EM
Cruisin' Chick Posted June 10, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2012 As EM states above, you would have to go from Hawaii to Ensenada or to Vancouver (or the reverse) because of the PVSA. You can see if a travel agent can find you a reasonable fare to Hawaii if one exists.
cruising cockroach Posted June 10, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2012 At least Alaska sells its cheapest tickets on a OW basis, including to/from Hawaii.
paul929207 Posted June 10, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 10, 2012 I believe the only cruises that are one way, starting or ending in Hawaii have Papeette as the other end.
Rare Keith1010 Posted June 10, 2012 #6 Share Posted June 10, 2012 You may be able to find a repositioning cruise that does this such as one that stops in Canada on the way back to the West Coast. Go to a travel agency web site that lets you do searches for cruises. Keith

It wouldn't just stop in Canada if it started in Hawaii; it would have to end there. beachchick
