Cutting the bands may cost CCL

Recommended Posts

There is the late night comedy show, casino, disco...etc...plenty of things going on at night to keep people up late.

Last cruise, they had a Mardi Gras party that went into the wee hours of the morning.

I guess it really depends on what you are interested in doing.

Aren't they cutting the disco on the sunshine? Or was that just a myth?

People might turn in earlier with less entertainment and not buy drinks

Apparently some ships will still have the bands and others will have something else such as the ships band.

We prefer the bands especially the Phillipino ones.

Really?!?!? Bye, enjoy the other lines.

Carnival is pathetic for cutting the bands and ruining cruising with its cheapened product. 10 cruises on Carnival and NEVER again until the 4 piece calypso/reggae AND party bands are back.

I'll say it yet again - for the life of me, I cannot comprehend why people are complaining about getting rid of BAD music!

Seriously, if the musicians had real talent, they wouldn't be playing on cruise ships.

I simply cannot listen to off-key singers. The pool bands were one of the reasons I avoid the main pool area.

There's still plenty to do on the ship in the evening.

And just like with all the complaints first about the menu change, now about the loyalty program and music - if it is so important to you, then just GO already! I'm sure the grass is greener on other lines. You don't need a bunch of anonymous message board posters to validate your decision. Stop complaining and take your vacation dollars elsewhere!

Have thought the cover bands such as Blood Power and Music Unlimited were excellent and disappointed that quite a few ships will not have it anymore.

Sargent:Disco is alive and well, it just changed it's name to "dance music" If anyone enjoys dancing to "disco or dance music" there will be plenty of it on the Oct 28 sailing of the Splendor. At least 8 major dance parties each with different themes, costumes will be over the top!!!

Plenty of musicians have talent and are playing on cruise ships. This used to be true but not anymore, it's very competitive to get work. Musicians are forced to play along to tracks to create the illusion of a live band, it's all been a movement to save money. There is no freedom or creativity allowed anymore, pre-recorded means nothing spontaneous, it's artificial. Hard to make a living as a musician these days, especially since no one pays for music anymore. So enjoy your ipod and all the canned music you want. The beards will all be smiling.

Last cruise i met passengers who only sailed because of the 4 piece band

Really? Comonnnnnnnnn....... the ONLY reason?

If I want music I'll go to the symphony. If I want to cruise warm climates and visit foreign ports all while sipping on fruity tropical drinks, I'll take a cruise.

Drop it already.

Believe me, any huge corporation considers everything.

It's call ROI. Return On Investment. Every company is doing it, especially in today's environment.

Luggage charges on airplanes? Parks raising ticket prices? A particular TV show gets cancelled? A certain flavor no longer available?

And bottom line, they know it is impossible to please everyone. So they won't even try. They just do what they determine what is best for them in the big picture.

So stop your bitching! If it is important to YOU, then YOU act accordingly with YOUR $$$. But thinking a company hasn't considered all angles, is naive. < general statement, NOT directed at OP. :)

Have seen some really good cover bands, sad to see them go. What really sucks is the showbands getting cut, love them. The Carnival "Sunshine" is gonna be an utter mess. Crappy name with an even more crappy layout. And why does the Carnival Breeze look like a Royal Caribbean ship? I always liked the tacky themed ships of Joe Farcus. I shall stick with the Conquest and Spirit ships
