Cruise critic slot pull?

It works best if you have an active roll call.

Everyone donates so much (we each donated $15). Then all the money was put into the machine. We each pulled 5 times. Once everyone was done, we took what was left and divided it up.

Sometimes you come out ahead, sometimes you don't. I think I walked away with $12???? lol... it was fun though!! We all stood around and cheered each other on. Other folks in the casino must have thought we were nuts!!

Members of a Meet-n-Greet pool their money on a slot machine and split any winnings. Complaint is 1 PAX gets all the points towards a free drink card.

I have been on several cruises where the slot pulls have been done and only one time did someone get PO'd because the person running it got the points. I haven't ever run one, but I think the person running it deserves getting the points.

The person running it has to get the names of people signing up, collect the money, keep track of cabin numbers etc. and have envelopes so that those who play and then leave can get their share of the winnings. Also, all our tournaments have had an extra $1 for the person getting the most credit on a pull, so the person running it has to keep track of that too.

I guess I think that's worth having the person get the points. If others don't, then don't play or better yet, have them run it and see how much more there is to it than meets the eye. Some people are just really cheap and get ticked at anything/everything. My advice to them is don't play. Let the rest of us have fun and we don't need them to be miserable because they didn't get some points. End of rant!

When we do them it's not so complicated. Everyone on our roll call who wants to play meets in the casino and we pick a $1 machine-$2 max bet (so the money lasts a little longer). Each person puts $20 in the machine. We take turns putting our cards in the machine-each card stays in for 5 spins. We play until our money is doubled or we run out of money whichever comes first. If the doubled amount is not even divided up we leave the uneven amount in and play it. No one "runs" the slot pull and no need to take names and cabin numbers. We always have a blast!

Thank you, I am trying to get stuff going on our roll call + it is a bit of work on my part. It is tough to get people to commit to doing any of the work, but wanting only just the fun. So yes, the person running it deserves whatever they get. IMO

Thanks for your explaination. I am trying to do one for our cruise. I don't want to have to take cabin # & such. Your way sounds good. We are doing a cabin crawl too. I have a few volunteers, but no one is really giving any advice or suggestions on what to do exactly.

I am confused about the 'switching' of cards:confused: - altho I must say I am not an 'experienced' slot player - don't you have to 'cash out' if you remove your card? e.g. put the cash on the 'current' card? How do you get that cash 'moved' to the subsequent card for the next 5 spins??? Am I missing something? Or is it easier than it sounds? (or can you just remove and insert a new card without having to 'cash out'?)

I'm not a casino person, but I was in on the slot pull from our roll call on Fantasy last summer and it was a lot of fun. I think we each walked away with $6 in winnings after each putting in $20. The person who set up the slot pull contacted the casino manager and was able to get several door prizes like free drinks and tee shirts.

Really, that is interesting, never thought of contacting manager of casino. Thanks for the suggestion.

Froufie-You know now that you mention it-This was the way we do it on RCI (they don't have a casino account that you set up with your sign and sail card) so it wasn't a problem. In their casinos you put your card in to earn points for prizes like shirts or hats but you get a ticket when you cash out.

I guess it just got complicated to do it this way on a Carnival ship.

Maybe you could put all the cards of people playing in a hat and draw one out-that one gets the casino points during the slot pull. Sounds fair to me.

We have a really active roll call for the Liberty 9/8/12. One person is quaterbacking each event. We are doing a sail away, a meet & greet, a poker pub crawl, and slot pull. Lots of people are hooking up for excursions together too. It's so nice when you get a lot of fun loving people!

I've got a pretty slow roll call with lots of members who don't post but 1x. I guess I've taken over the quarterback slot since no one else is jumping in. The slot pull sounds like fun to us, but can't get others to commit. All you that posted you want to try this- join us on the Dream- :)
