We are sailing the Star in Novemeber out of NOLA. I look forward every week to see new reviews posted. Even though the Star is currently sailing to Bermuda I want to hear everyone's thoughts about the ship, crew, food, and so on.

Hardly any reviews coming back though:(

Where is everyone!??:o

Have you checked the Member Review section?:

There are three new reviews posted on 7/12.

I saw those reviews and have my doubts.

I think Cruise Critic should list how many posts the reviewer has, like their sister site TripAdvisor does. Then you could tell if someone is just posting to slam the line.

I read some of the bad reviews. 2 people haven't even posted on CC. Unless they are posting their review under a different name. It just seems strange that they've only posted a review.....

Well I'm booked on Star as soon as she repo's to LA. That's not until 2014 though. :D

I read some of those reviews and was a bit concerned as this will be our first NCL. I always look at how many posts they have made too.

My TA, who is a HAL fan, has been on a few NCL cruises, and she plans to join us on the Star. If it's good enough for her, I'm down. !! ;)

I can't help with a review yet as DH & I are not sailing until early September. Like others have said, the Star reviews are frightening & disheartening, especially when one has been counting down for so long. We all have to remember that these are only opinions which must be taken "with a grain of salt."

Very true! Some reviews are so opinionated and dramatic! I always take them with a grain of salt! I have sailed NCL several times and I have had great crew and service staff always!

I normally don't read reviews prior to my sailing. However, I have been known to go back and read what others have wrote on a sailing I've been on. It's actually rather comical when I read some really negative reviews and think to myself "were they actually on the same cruise as I was?"

We were on the Star in 2011 and loved her. Enjoy your cruise.

We'll be on the Star for the fourth time in January. With all the cruises available we wouldn't repeat sail on a ship we didn't like.

We're huge fans of the family suites on deck 12 and are looking forward to trying the "with balcony" version this time.

The best of all lunch is on our list of must repeat items. The martini tasting is also on the list :)

The crew on the Star is great, actually we think the Norwegian crew are all great. After Epic I really wish Howl at the Moon was on the Star but we still enjoy stopping at the different venues and listening to the entertainers.

Don't stress over bad reviews - everyone has their own opinion and often times people who had a great cruise just don't bother to post a review.

It appears that all three of the negative posters on this cruise are part of the same party. Many/all comments are about the same issues and mention the same dining. Some of the comments are so extreme, that if real, should have been brought to the attention of management, no mention of that at all. Beyond belief!!

I too thought those extremely negative reviews about the cruise to Bermuda in July were from a group of people traveling together. Apparently this was their first time with freestyle cruising, which I prefer, but it is quite different from sitting at the same table every night and getting to know your waiter. I think those negative reviews have to be taken in context with the mostly good reviews of the Star.

Here is my review from our cruise back in January: http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=97062

So you know where I am coming from I am a hotel manager at a casino. I can be overly critical of things in hotels and restaurants. But I try to be as objective as possible. I encounter people weekly that hated everything about their stay. Just recently a "gentleman" complained about our dinner buffet and yet the server said he ate 3 plates of food before complaining. Hmm. I think some folks are fishing since they know that NCL reads the boards.

I booked the Star for January 2013 based on the glowing reviews that I had read about the Star from cruise reviews from January & February 2012.

I believe that if you go back & read these reviews that your doubts will disappear.

Hi, I have sailed on the Star a couple times and have an upcoming trip to Bermuda at the end of September on her. I have enjoyed the Star each time that I have sailed on her. The officers at the M&G were very friendly and accommodating. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. As far as the dining, I travel solo so I am not a big MDR person, I will hit the specialty restaurants and the Lido most of the time. On my last trip on the Star it was a Panama Canal cruise and the Lido Buffet was excellent, as the variety was very good. I always enjoy LeBistro, and the TexMex place and the Italian Restaurant are always worth the small charge they levy. I am from the midwest so I am used to good steaks, so Cagney's was not as big of treat to me. It wasn't bad by any means but not as big of treat for me as it might be for others. We have very few French Restaurants in our area so that is why I love Lebistro as it is a real treat for me. Happy sailing.

You know, I think so too! They are all in the same party or the same person!

Hi Everbody,

We just returned last Sunday from our Star trip. We had a great time. Work has been crazy & I have also have been prepping the review by uploading pix.( w/difficulty photobucket keeps crashing when I am uploading pix). I want to be able to upload full size pix in my review so I signed up for it.

We were in stateroom 11510, a Sc 2bedroom penthouse. Myself, DH, DS (19) & DD (17). I plan to hopefully have a review up w/pix sometime this wknd. If you have any questions before then you can ask away.:D

We were on the Star NYC to Bermuda in early May. Loved the ship, crew, and Bermuda. One thing worth noting, we went to a seminar with some of the senior officers, we were told that the Star used to be at the bottom of customer ratings, since the latest officer rotations, they are at the top. NCL has also changed the mission of senior officers from driving an office and disiplining crew to mingling with passengers, observing the operations from a passenger standpoint, and finding a way to counsel and develop underperforming crew. We couldn't believe the visibility of the senior managers, and it showed.

When are you sailing on the Star in November? We're on the Nov 25th sailing and can't wait. Have you joined your Roll Call? We have a very active roll call for our cruise with several CC members who have sailed on the Star before, and the same itinerary, and have been able to provide the Roll Call group with some great info.
