carolinesmom Posted July 20, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2012 We have a lot of early mornings on our upcoming med cruise. I'm planning to order room service for breakfast most of those days. We are on LOS out of Barcelona. Is there a charge or do we just tip? And what is the recommended tip? Thanks!
DHADEN Posted July 20, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2012 We have never cruised Med, but think RCI would be the same on all ships. The only charge for room service is between the hours of Midnight to 5:00 am. AS long as your breakfast is coming after that, there is no charge. We usually tip a couple of dollars - I give them the Golden Eagle Dollar coins - I'm not sure about Med - do they do Euros??? Hope This Helps. cb at sea Posted July 20, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2012 Just tip....and in easily spendable money....that's why the folks are working, after all, to make money! Leave the $2 bills and coins at home....give them $1's or $5..... Tip between $1- $5, depending on how much they have to carry....a pot of coffee and danish...$2...a full breakfast for two, $5! carolinesmom Posted July 20, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted July 20, 2012 That sounds good. Thanks for the input. I'll have to make sure we get some smaller Euro denominations before we go.
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted July 20, 2012 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2012 They'll be happy with $ bills of any denomination,,,,,
Rare marielco Posted July 20, 2012 #6 Share Posted July 20, 2012 Euro coins are fine too. Crew spend months in the Med where the currency on shore in many countries is the Euro so they will have no trouble spending them.
carolinesmom Posted July 22, 2012 Author #7 Share Posted July 22, 2012 Would it be okay to leave $ bills? I have a bunch of singles I could bring along to have handy for tipping. I sort of thought Euros would be necessary, though. Does anyone know about this?

That's true you can watch them buying all the latest Apple products in Southampton, they spend like its there last day ashore...:D

While euros may be easier for the crew to spend when they are off the ship in European ports, they won't have any more of a problem spending US dollars ashore than you or I would. Many tourist locations, although they may use a different currency, seem to have little difficulty accepting US dollars.

we like it hot Posted July 23, 2012 #11 Share Posted July 23, 2012 We enjoyed many mornings on our balcony cruising the med. We ate our breakfast and sipped our coffee enjoying the beautiful scenery. It was one of my very favorite cruises:)
