spacepotatoes Posted July 22, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2012 A full review will follow in the next couple of weeks (it's going to take some time to organize the photos, DH and I went a little crazy :D), but just wanted to post a quick note about this cruise. We weren't sure what to expect given some of the recent feedback about the Zuiderdam but I'm happy to report that we had a wonderful trip. The ship and her crew were fantastic, the weather was great (except Ketchikan), and no toilet issues, at least for us. There were a couple of public toilet stalls that were out of order during the week and there was a sewage smell outside the Casino one morning, but that's all I'm aware of as far as the plumbing goes. This was our first HAL cruise and we are very much looking forward to being back on another dam ship one day! We loved it. Feel free to ask any questions you might have :)

One question - I am travelling with 3 teens, and am worried there won't be enough other teens on board, did you notice many kids?

spacepotatoes Posted July 22, 2012 Author #7 Share Posted July 22, 2012 Hi, We are on the same ship/inside passage next July, so looking forward to reading your full review. One question - I am travelling with 3 teens, and am worried there won't be enough other teens on board, did you notice many kids? The cruise director said that there were around 150 kids between 3 and 17 years old on our sailing. I didn't see them often so either they kept themselves entertained or the HAL clubs took good care of them! There were several events listed in the Explorer for them. We did see several teens playing ping pong on the lido deck but we tended to see them out on excursions with their families more than we saw them around the ship. Welcome home - remember dinner is not in the lido or the MDR - someone has to cook:eek: Yes, that's been a tough adjustment! We were very spoiled. :)

spacepotatoes Posted July 23, 2012 Author #10 Share Posted July 23, 2012 any info on the soda card? Did they serve fountain pop or cans with the card.... We didn't purchase the soda card so I only know that they served cans for those of us without it. I believe it was cans for everyone but I honestly wasn't paying close enough attention to know for sure.

PrincessMom58 Posted July 23, 2012 #13 Share Posted July 23, 2012 any info on the soda card? Did they serve fountain pop or cans with the card.... We were also on this cruise last week. My sister asked about the soda card and you would get "soda fountain" pop not cans when ordering from a soda card. She choose not to purchase on.
