Andee Posted August 8, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2012 I love Oceania (and their smoking policy), but DH and I often joke that the prices could be lowered if we didn't get a brochure every three days.

You'd better enjoy your Costa cruise because the writing is on the wall.....er....the sign:
Hawaiidan Posted August 8, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2012 If it didnt pay off, they would not be doing it. Direct mail marketing does have an impact and keeping you attention on the "brand" has an overall productive effect. Rather Pavlovian I get either a Regent or an Oceania flyer in the mail almost daily ! Its a relief from all the political crud that is sent Yesterday I did not, and almost called the office to see if everything was alright!!!!;)

I'm curious. Is the smoking policy unacceptable because they allow any smoking at all? Or because you want to smoke wherever and whenever? I don't think they're hurting because our Black Sea cruise has been completely sold out for months. I understand not wanting the brochure ... it is pretty much wasted on us as well. All I want to know is where is an itinerary going and how much will it cost. I don't need the gloss. Mura Mura

Sorry, but it is if I am the next one using the cabin EVEN if it has been cleaned.

I don't think that smokers can possibly realize how disgusting a room smells to the next non smoking occupant after it has been smoked in.

vaitape Posted August 8, 2012 #11 Share Posted August 8, 2012 Please! Yes it is asking too much! We wish smoking was TOTALLY banned or at least in Horizons besides the cabins and verandas.
pacheco18 Posted August 8, 2012 #12 Share Posted August 8, 2012 Ban the smoking and the brochures!
FlipperRae Posted August 8, 2012 #13 Share Posted August 8, 2012 I'm all for banning the smoking too. It will be wonderful to not have to worry about getting wafts of smoke in my direction while enjoying a drink and I would rather swim back to Canada from Venice than end up in a cabin where the previous occupant had smoked! I recall being on a Celebrity cruise and the cabin next to us had smokers and they would smoke on their balcony...the smoke came directly into our cabin like a vacuum. As for the brochures, it is a bit much...I agree that direct marketing is successful but maybe they are a bit heavy-handed in their frequency! letvl Posted August 9, 2012 #14 Share Posted August 9, 2012 If you travel at all you should know that you cannot smoke in hotel rooms and restaurants in the US. Europe has followed suite with numerous hotels and restaurants in many countries (even Italy and France!!!!)banning smoking. As a smoker, you can't tell me you have not gotten used to the fact that smokeing has been banned almost everywhere expect your home. Cruise ships are floating hotels and restaurants they are not going to be any different.
Mexfolkart Posted August 9, 2012 #15 Share Posted August 9, 2012 We recently booked a 25 day cruise on Oceania BECAUSE we DID receive a brochure..even though we had just gotten off one O trip we had never noticed this itinerary until we were leafing through the brochure! azevedan Posted August 9, 2012 #16 Share Posted August 9, 2012 Specifically will not travel on Costa again (we did a special promotion New Year's Caribbean cruise a few years ago) because (among other reasons ) not only do they allow smoking almost everywhere, but they don't stop people from doing it where they're not supposed to and said people pretend not to understand if you ask them to please not light up. Fortunately, I know insults in most European languages. :D
