Can anyone tell me if on formal nights you can't go to the theatre unless you are in formal wear? I saw this on Celebrity's Facebook page and it won't be a problem just wondering if it is true as we are take our first Celebrity cruise later this year.

Formal dress only applies to Main Dining Room, Theater is smart casual each night...From the website

Note: T-shirts, swimsuits, robes, bare feet, tank tops, baseball caps and pool wear are not allowed in the main restaurant or specialty restaurants at any time. Shorts and flip-flops are not allowed in the evening hours. As a courtesy to our guests, we respectfully require and enforce compliance with the dress code at the entrance of your restaurant of choice. We thank you, in advance, for your cooperation and understanding. Additionally, guests are asked to follow the "Smart Casual & Above" dress code in the Celebrity Theater for all evening performances.

There is a report and thread that the policy became very restrictive on one sailing.

The situation is in flux...

I think this is the thread that you're talking about:

And the way I read what that OP wrote, I don't think that there was any change in policy for the theatre. If you read what that OP actually wrote, the cruise director on the Summit said that no one in shorts and tshirts would be allowed in the MDR or theatre on formal nights. Well, if you read the policy on the web, no one should be allowed in the MDR or theatre in shorts and a tshirt on ANY night. They don't meet the definition of smart casual. So, to me, that's not more restrictive. To me, it might have been less restrictive as it implies that attire would be permitted on non formal nights.
