Magic 9/23 embarkation delayed

Just got an Email from Carnival that due to anticipated delays from clearing customs, embarkation on the Magic for the Sept 23 sailing will be delayed. Check in is scheduled from 1:30 until 3:00P

I guess I see how well the Platinum line works. Last Feb on the Triumph I stood in line for 2 hours for the general check in after delays due to fog.

. There is a big thing going on down there with the commissioning of the new USS Fort Worth, so even if customs is going to delay embarkation, give yourself plenty of time to get to port.

We were going to book this cruise until I saw that on the Galveston.com website. that, and the 9/30 sailing was cheaper!

Speaking of 9/30, Firefly, we don't want to be late leaving, but for you, we will hold the boat!!:D

They really mean it when they say things will be delayed. If the ship is doing Roatan, Belize and Cozumel they have to go through a full customs and immigration inspection. Instead of just looking at passports and documentation the agents have to swipe all the passports and enter all the BC/DL info by hand. On days like that it sure pays to be in the passport express lane.

We got the call 2 days before our Aug 26 sailing on the Magic. We arrived at the pier at 1:15 pm and people were still getting off the ship. We're Platinum so we breezed through Security and there was no one else at Platinum Check in. We were able to go straight to boarding - they were on group number 5 at that point. We talked to others who had been waiting in the terminal since 10:30am and finally got to board at 1:30pm. We didn't talk to them by choice - they were mad that the Carnival rep walked us to the front of the line. They told us in no uncertain terms that they were there first. Yes, they were, but they were not Platinum, which in this case came in real handy. Unfortunately, they made snide remarks every time we saw them on the cruise and don't you know we saw them alot.

Yep, we were on the 8/19 sailing & were debarkation was a more involved process through customs for sure because we had gone on Belize Itinerary. We were in zone 7 for getting off the ship & it still took us awhile to get through.

This is correct. We just got off the Liberty and had visited Belize. We were in customs line for an hour and a half. they are doing full customs screening on foreign passengers, including hand prints and photos.
