VIFP Diamond question

On the Elation this month, we were the only 3 Diamond members.

The Captain had us up to the bridge for tea at Sunset.

It was beautiful...and I thought extremely thoughtful to take the time to make it a Sunset Party.

The Hotel Director and Guest Services Manager was there as well and we had a blast.....

our pictures have the Sunset in the background....very well taken...

Maybe you friend is the one I read about. I think she said she got off on the 16th.

I am on the Legend next week. I thought I might need something for the bridge, but after reading the post, decided I might need a more elegent dress for elegent night. Also asked hubby to pick up a couple of new ties, and this time he is taking his sports jacket. We have gotten used to dress shirt and ties and Sunday attire our past few cruises.

It was me who was invited to dine with the captain on the Legend, sailing on the 9th of september.

On the liberty, invited to cocktails in the piano bar one week and the other for tea on the bridge.

I enjoyed each one of my Captain events and look forward to the next.

Cindy

in Sept.My pal from Magic Trans AT..BCN to Galveston a year ago this week, another gentleman, and me. After the Call on stage w/pics,drinks and HD's, we were escorted to the bridge for an hour with Captain, and tea service. The sun going down was a lovely sight, even tho I"ve seen it many times at sea.I got to brush up on my Italian in my conversation with Captain.

Well over 900 days total @ sea amongst the 3 of us.and a goodly amount of those on Carnival, alone. Looking forward to it, or whatever presents in 10 days on the Paradise. Then on to B2B on Fascination for Turkey (left overs) !

  • 1 year later...

My Dad at 91 just (last week) had his diamond and milestone cruise on the Miracle with John Heald as CD. There were 8 diamonds on board, but only 3 (that included Dad) that came to past guest party, and only 5 came to the diamond cocktail party with the captain, major fab snacks enough for 40 people not the few who came. My Dads invite said and guest , so I went with him as his plus one. Now my questions are

1. He got a different thank you gift, ( I am platinum and got tote bag) he got a set of nice cocktail glasses... Is that normal for diamonds to get something different?

2. Carnivals website says diamonds are presented with luggage tags. When? Cause no one gave him any on the ship.

3 are all diamond do's a you can bring a guest along, or are they just for Diamonds only and since I go as his care giver they included me?

My Diamond /milestone cruise is next January, so want to be prepared.

Thanks, Jackie

We got to spend an hour with the captain on the bridge. It was an incredibly interesting experience! I was the only diamond on our cruise.

Glad you posted your comment. I was concerned if when I become Diamond soon, if I would have to attend any Diamond functions by myself, when I travel with my sister who has a disability, I would not feel comfortable leaving her behind. Now I can stop stressing over how I would handle a future situation.

1. He got a different thank you gift, ( I am platinum and got tote bag) he got a set of nice cocktail glasses... Is that normal for diamonds to get something different? I RECENTLY DID A B2B ABOARD 'PARADISE', AND ON THE FIRST LEG GOT THE COCKTAIL GLASSES, SECOND LEG GOT THE NEW TURVIS TUMBLER. I THINK IT JUST DEPENDS ON THE MOOD THEY'RE IN.

2. Carnivals website says diamonds are presented with luggage tags. When? Cause no one gave him any on the ship. IT'S BEEN A WHILE, BUT AS I RECALL, THE LUGGAGE TAGS CAME IN THE MAIL. YOU COULD CALL THE DIAMOND DESK, AND INQUIRE.

3 are all diamond do's a you can bring a guest along, or are they just for Diamonds only and since I go as his care giver they included me? EVERY DIAMOND EVENT I'VE ATTENDED RECENTLY, THERE HAVE BEEN NON DIAMOND GUESTS. NO PROBLEM!

My Diamond /milestone cruise is next January, so want to be prepared.

Thanks, Jackie

Your Dad will have a red leather luggage tag, a red leather passport cover and a letter mailed to his home.

MAKE SURE HE KEEPS THE LETTER...this is how he gets his free steakhouse dinner.

Varies by ships. We were on the 1st Alaskan cruise this season on the Miracle and we as Diamond guests got the glasses like your dad and our Platinum friends got the Tervis tumblers. However on other ships/cruises, we have seen the same gift for both Platinum and Diamond. I think it depends on the availability of what they have on board as sometimes, different gifts are given even if you are the same level as someone else.

2. Carnivals website says diamonds are presented with luggage tags. When? Cause no one gave him any on the ship.

Linda has given you the answer in post # 32

3 are all diamond do's a you can bring a guest along, or are they just for Diamonds only and since I go as his care giver they included me?

Again, it varies by ship/captains. On the Miracle, our invites also had " you and a guest" but have seen others that did not include a guest.

My Diamond /milestone cruise is next January, so want to be prepared.

Thanks, Jackie

Hope this helps:)

BTW: You said your dad had his Diamond and Milestone cruise and then said your Diamond/milestone cruise. Is it just a co-incidence that you both reached Diamond and Milestone at the same time? 200 days for Diamond and 25 cruises for Milestone.

Just wanted to point out that they are 2 different programs. We reached Diamond on our 21st cruise and have not attained the milestone yet.

Have seen S&S cards with the 25 Milestone on a Platinum card also.

We will be reaching our first Milestone cruise on the Freedom in Sept. and then in early Dec. on the Breeze we will be at the Diamond level finally!! :) We are looking forward to any event with the Captain on the Breeze. We are Diamond Plus on RCCL and get invited to the bridge all the time. Lots of very nice perks from RCCL. We are always happy with any extra perks that we get on any cruise!! :) John & Priscilla

A friend was on Legend recently. They sent me a copy of their Diamond invite.

The Captain invited them to enjoy sail away with him when they left Cozumel.

They were the only Diamonds on board and were quite embarassed by some extra attention given to them.

Oh, I'm afraid I would embarrass myself if I were to be invited to the bridge with the Captain after a day in Cozumel.

It just worked out that it was Dads Milestone and his Diamond cruise on the same trip, and it said both on his sail and sign card. It will be my milestone cruise on our September cruise and my Diamond cruise on our Hawaii cruise in January.

I wouldn't have any idea what to talk about! What DID you talk about?

Just chatted, he (the Captain) was very personable, and his English was excellent. Think he asked about what year Dad started sailing, it was 1997 for Dad and Mom. But Dad said that the first family cruise was earlier...1960.. We sailed from New York on the Queen Mary, and returned a month later back to New York from Southampton on the QE1. And that started the Captain to talk about the old days and what he called the beautiful classic ships of a bygone era. He asked our favorite class of ship... Stuff like that.

After the two cruises we have booked we will be two away from diamond.

We are now planning on playing the field so might take awhile to reach it. Not enough benefits to add cruises to get there.

An activity with the capt sounds very nice but not enough to have great amound of influence in whom we want to book with.

Since her dad reached Milestone and Diamond on the same cruise, he probably got the Diamond/white card.

I see where you posted you will reach Milestone while still Platinum I believe so your card will be the Platinum color with Milestone written on it ( at least that's what I saw on someone's card )

Both the Milestone and Diamond cards are white, but the Milestone white card is a one time only card, so if you are still Platinum you will go back to a Platinum card after your Milestone cruise, but Diamonds will get the white card on each cruise until they make another change to the program.

My 1st Diamond cruise was on the Magic there were 4 others and I received an invitation to join the Captain on the bridge for tea. It was the last sea day and I had a nasty cold, so I declined the invitation. I was one of only two Diamonds at the VIFP party and even though we didn't have the most days we were both called up on stage for a picture with the staff. It was delivered to our cabin in a really nice pleather portfolio album.

My 2nd Diamond cruise was on the Sunshine on BC7 and there were probably 50 Diamonds, so they had a special lunch in the steakhouse with the Captain and senior officers......it was really nice and we had a great time.......

We can't complain! We've been treated very well on each cruise since becoming Diamond. The events with the captain have ranged from coffee to elegant night dinner with a table full of officers. There have been many little extras, too. VIP tickets for the concerts, reserved seating at some shows, wine at dinner and many complimentary pictures, plus a few nice upgrades have made us feel appreciated. Diamond level does have a few perks, at least for right now.

Because of the fun we are having, currently Carnival is getting the larger portion of our cruising monies.:)

Hi Janey. How are you?

I don't think that if one is Milestone and still Platinum that they get the white card any more. In January on the Imagination, I saw a Milestone card that was Platinum/ grey in color. I think John F. posted in an earlier post that Milestone no longer get the white card unless they are Diamond also.

Perhaps because of the confusion between the 2 programs, Carnival has finally decided to not give the white card unless one is Diamond. The Milestone is probably print on whatever color you are as per the VIFP.
