Cruizlovers Posted October 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2012 We are sailing on Mariner and taking my SIL and her son for their first cruise. I tried to get the "Bring a Friend" deal which gives you $25 obc for bring a new cruiser on your sailing. The C&A gal who answered the phone said that I could not get the $25 because it appeared my GS was booked with a "group". I said I did not book with any group but I did use a TA. She said sorry, it was booked as a group so no "Bring a Friend" deal! What's the difference where I booked? Should I call back? Not a huge deal really but just the point. Seems that they would not worry about $25 when I just referred my family member who spend almost $2k on a balcony cabin... Any one else heard of this? Thanks in advance! setsail Posted October 6, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2012 You should talk to your TA. Your TA has a group booked for your cruise and included your resi in it. Ask the TA to pony up the 25 since you were not informed it would be a group booking. The rules are on RCI's web...#5 http://www.royalcaribbean.com/customersupport/faq/details.do?pagename=frequently_asked_questions&pnav=5&pnav=2&faqSubjectName=Membership+Online+&faqId=4736&faqSubjectId=345&faqType=faq
Cruzin Carol Posted October 6, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2012 Group space is often at a greatly reduced price and not combinable with some promotions. You can be removed from the group space but will probably have a increase in fare unless the price has gone down.
Clarea Posted October 6, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 6, 2012 Same thing happened with us last year. We had 6 staterooms booked with family, and the travel agent had 3 other staterooms unrelated to us on the same cruise, so she put us all into a group. It was not a big deal, except my daughter's bring-a-friend OBC was denied.
