911 Memorial from Manhattan Cruise Terminal

We will dock in Manhattan for 1 day on the NCL Dawn. Wanting to see the 911 memorial and the area near it. We've mapped out some public transportation routes, but want some input from anyone that's been there and done it. Please tell me the best way - catching the subway or the metro bus or both? Your best route ideas will be appreciated. We have tickets to the 911 memorial for 1:30 pm. Nothing earlier was available. I've searched the threads, but can't locate anything recent that helped. ~Joyce

The easiest way to do this via mass transit is to walk 4 long blocks east from the cruise terminal to 8th Avenue and 50th St and take the E train headed downtown to its last stop, World Trade Center. All told, the trip should take about 45 minutes (subject to how long you have to wait for the E train when you arrive at the subway station at 8th Ave and 50th St).

If you wanted to take a taxi instead of mass transit, in average traffic conditions it would cost about $20 including tip.

You might also want to consider the hoho water taxi. http://www.911memorial.org/getting-here It might be something to consider because your ship will be in early, but your tickets say 1:30, so don't you have the entire morning to spend?

Anyway, you pick up the water taxi right near the ship.

Yes - we considered the water taxi too - I'm trying to recall where they said we could pick that up.... somewhere near our port? ~Joyce

44th St. and 12th Ave...the next pier south of the Intrepid Museum, just a couple of blocks south of where your ship will be docked.
