sunnidaddad Posted October 14, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2012 We will go on our first Oceania cruise this Nov-Dec, sailing on Riveria. We like to eat fairly early, no later than about 6 pm...can any "veterans" of Oceania give us some idea of whether this will be difficult, or easy? for the Main D.R.?, and for the specialty restaurants? thanks in advance for your comments... Rare LHT28 Posted October 14, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2012 There is room service The dining venues do not open until 6:30pm Wave stays open until 4pm if you want to get a snack to tide you over or there is afternoon tea from 4-5pm with little sandwiches, cakes & cookies If you have a butler they will bring you hor dourves or maybe in the Concierge or executive lounges they will have snacks if you are in the upper suites
Tansy Mews Posted October 14, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2012 And if you are not in a concierge or higher status accommodation, Baristas has little sandwiches too. The tea service is wonderful - great sandwiches, scones with cream, cakes, etc. All served to you very nicely.

vaitape Posted October 14, 2012 #5 Share Posted October 14, 2012 I think you're going to have to flex by 30 minutes if you want to have dinner in a restaurant venue. As Lyn stated, the restaurants open at 6:30.

sunnidaddad Posted October 15, 2012 Author #7 Share Posted October 15, 2012 Thanks for all the replies. Looks like we can't eat before 6:30 so that's important to know. We are both in our 70's and we just don't sleep very well if we eat too late. 6:30 or 7:00 will be fine IF we can get reservations -- how hard will that be?? sail57 Posted October 15, 2012 #9 Share Posted October 15, 2012 No reservations needed for the MDR ,just arrive at 6:30pm. The speciality restaurants usually have availability at 6:30pm as many prefer to dine later I think you will have no problem getting the times that you need. Most people on Oceania tend to eat later so a 6:30 reservation should be no problem We usually go to the GDR at opening time or shortly after & there is not usually a problem getting a seat Book the Specialty restaurants online as soon as you are allowed (by cabin Cat) Lyn
Floridiana Posted October 15, 2012 #11 Share Posted October 15, 2012 We usually eat at 6:30 and have never had any problem being seated in the main dining room immediately. Same for our specialty restaurant reservations.
Rotterdam Posted October 15, 2012 #12 Share Posted October 15, 2012 it all depends on how many cocktails you had at 4:00pm! We will go on our first Oceania cruise this Nov-Dec, sailing on Riveria. wiks Posted October 15, 2012 #13 Share Posted October 15, 2012 The ship's restaurants do open until 6:30pm. Otherwise you would have to use room service to dine earlier unless you went to Waves before it closed.:)

cruisecountess Posted October 27, 2012 #18 Share Posted October 27, 2012 If you need to eat earlier, you may want to consider dining at a table for two. If you are seated with others who first order cocktails, your order will not be taken until all are ready. Also, orders will not be taken until the table is full ~ or almost full. We stopped sitting at a table for 8 if we were the first couple to be seated for just that reason. Harriet
