How difficult is eating at 5:30 or 6 pm on Riveria?

We will go on our first Oceania cruise this Nov-Dec, sailing on Riveria. We like to eat fairly early, no later than about 6 pm...can any "veterans" of Oceania give us some idea of whether this will be difficult, or easy? for the Main D.R.?, and for the specialty restaurants? thanks in advance for your comments...

There is room service

The dining venues do not open until 6:30pm

Wave stays open until 4pm if you want to get a snack to tide you over or there is afternoon tea from 4-5pm with little sandwiches, cakes & cookies

If you have a butler they will bring you hor dourves or maybe in the Concierge or executive lounges they will have snacks if you are in the upper suites

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like we can't eat before 6:30

so that's important to know. We are both in our 70's and we

just don't sleep very well if we eat too late. 6:30 or 7:00 will

be fine IF we can get reservations -- how hard will that be??

No reservations needed for the MDR ,just arrive at 6:30pm.

The speciality restaurants usually have availability at 6:30pm as many prefer to dine later

I think you will have no problem getting the times that you need.

Most people on Oceania tend to eat later so a 6:30 reservation should be no problem

We usually go to the GDR at opening time or shortly after & there is not usually a problem getting a seat

Book the Specialty restaurants online as soon as you are allowed (by cabin Cat)

it all depends on how many cocktails you had at 4:00pm!

First time Oceania Cruisers Next Summer to Alaska.

Just curious, how do we know "When we are allowed" to book a specialty restaurant? We have a category D. Is it a couple months or a couple weeks before sailing? How will we know?

Thanks for any tips. We like to eat early too, so 630 reservations are a must for us.

It will 45 days to 14 days you can reserve the specialty restaurants

When you go to O website click on Already booked sign in then Manage my booking, then look for the book dining (something to that effect)

click there

you can then book your dates and times

Yes, it's been our experience that the earlier you book, the better your chances. Our 1st Cruise on Princess with Reservation Dining was a disaster because we did not know the protocol. Thanks for the info.

If you need to eat earlier, you may want to consider dining at a table for two. If you are seated with others who first order cocktails, your order will not be taken until all are ready. Also, orders will not be taken until the table is full ~ or almost full. We stopped sitting at a table for 8 if we were the first couple to be seated for just that reason.

Yes the larger tables take longer to get through the meal as well

we prefer a 4 or 6 top better for conversations as well
