Do You Have a Cruise Tradition

Unless we are flying to a cruise port ... we take a limo to the cruise ship. As soon as we lock the front door, our vacation begins!

(Of course, it helps that we are within 1.5 hours of a drive from TWO different ports of departure!)

We used to have a cruise tradition but after three surprise cruise souvenirs 9 months after our second and third cruises, we decided toi make a few changes.

That's out tradition too. But we already made the changes, so no surprises in 9 months. :D

Mine is a silly one....

As soon as I enter the ships main doors I say "Honey, I'm Home!"

OceanDreams

Those are the words I used as I entered our cabin on our second cruise - we were in the exact same suite as our first cruise.

Loved all your replies and got a few tips for my first NCL cruise ;)

Board early, dump the carry on in the cabin asap, run madly round the ship taking photos before everyone boards and to get my bearings, have lunch, meet up with fellow CC or other forum cruisers in RL (real life!) for sailaway drinks ... then time to relax with new friends :D

AaaahhHH :)

we usually rent the largest Limo- 24 person Hummer - being that we were 20 people

we have drinks on the way down , then pour out of the limo dressed in our best Seventies outfit for the embarkation pic - it was a blast , people did not know what to think, others wanted pictures with us

this year we have another great theme

I was curious about this, too. So I Googled it. Apparently, it's nautical superstition.

Disaster will follow if you step onto a boat with your Left Foot first.

Thanks for the info. I'm not superstitious, however I may think about this one:)

I always go to Key Largo for an extra few days. That way the vacation gets expanded a few days, "The Woman to Blame" had the extra time to do as she pleased, and I got a few days extra SCUBA diving.

Once it became tradition I kept doing it... even on departures from Boston, Galveston, and Port Canaveral. I guess now it's just any excuse to go to "The Keys".:D

We "Try" all the bars for at least one drink at some point during cruise and keep track of it.

We get dressed every night for dinner. Sounds like we think some go naked, haha. But we "change clothes" and take pics, and "go out" to dinner.

We start people watching on day one and assign random "code" names to people, like "visor man" or "country girl".

We laugh about the muster drill. This came about because our first cruise that happened to be with our young adult kids, unfortunately the send off champagne sort of got to us. We learned our lesson. however we had to be escorted to ours on another cruise, with a funny story that went along with it, so I guess we didn't completely learn our lesson.

So much fun...maybe I'll book another one tonight. I've finally convinced my husband that short ones and non-balcony ones are fun too. Before that, he was a "cruise snob".
