New Years Eve on Silhouette

Hi. We were on the Silhouette last New Years. It was really fun. It was a formal night and then they had parties all around the ship with the biggest being on the pool deck. They did a countdown with ice sculptures and we were in the caribbean so they did two midnight celebrations because we were entering a different time zone that night. Everybody was dancing and the cruise director was singing with the band. Be prepared for a great time

I will be on the Eclipse new years eve. Sounds like alot more fun than being home. The best part, I don't have to worry about drinking and driving!

We're on the 12/30 sailing of the Silhouette. Have never sailed over the holidays. What can we expect to find in the way of a New Years Eve celebration?

Come on over and check in with our roll call:

This is the 11th year in a row we will be on a cruise ship for New Years! Can't even remember what it's like to stay home!:)

  • 2 years later...

We are thinking of taking a New Year's cruise on Silhouette, Adults ages 40 - 60, Teenagers 15 and 18.

We just came off the Equinox 10 day southern and found the ship areas closed by 11 PM

Is New Years more lively?

We have done Royal Independance at New Year's and loved it.

Thanks for any input,

Undecided

We were on Silhouette from Dec. 28th to Jan. 4th and found the New Year´s Party disappointing. They announced parties in different venues e.g. at the pool, the sky observation lounge, the atrium and the ensemble lounge. The pool was very crowded with countdown before 12 and complementary champagne. However after the New Years toast the crowds went somewhere else. Shortly after 12 we went into the sky lounge where the house band was playing. We found the music selection a bit suboptimal, in our opinion it was too rocky and hip-hop style. First the lounge was very crowded but quickly the people disappeared. The dance floor was full of teens however. At around 1am we went to deck five to have a look what happens at the atrium and ensemble lounge. The bar was already tidied up and the atrium was empty as well. Only the martini bar was still open with max. 10 guests. Around 1:15am we went back to sky lounge. Arriving there the band already quitted their performance and a DJ took over. There were maybe 30 persons in the lounge, the majority teens.

Going back to the pool the picture was the same, maybe 30 teens left jumping to hip hop music on the dance floor. By the way, the disco was closed that night...

Look at NYE in NYNY at Times Sq. people stand there all day, the ball drops, game over and everyone leaves.

Bartenders in Vegas hate it. Places are jammed packed and everyone wants a drink close to midnight. People walk behind the bar and grab bottles or start helping themselves. People grab drinks off the tray of the servers. 5 minutes after midnight everyone leaves and the place is empty. Haven't seen thsi first hand but was told by my BT friends to stay home.

happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌞
