Gold room

Recommended Posts

:cool:Hi Folks:

I sure would like some help and suggestions regarding a tour which included the Gold Room in St Petersburg. Checked with Alla Tours and I seem to be getting a run around. They offer it, but I cannot get a price for private tour. Anyone have a tour company which offers the Gold Room as a standard, or have information concerning who I should deal with? Alla seems fine for everything else. Thanks:cool:JACK IS SAILING AGAIN

We did not visit the Gold Room when we toured with SPB Tours. But I can understand your points. From what I was able to get, since the Gold Room usually is an additional cost, and it takes away time from other things to see and do in the Hermitage, most people forgo seeing it. If Alla is giving you no great answer probably is because if they have tours already formed, I would bet most people on the tour do not wish to go to the Gold Room. Remember that even if the tour is pre set, you can still make adjustments to it. That's the best part of using the private tour companies, they let YOU decide what you want to see.

If you have your heart set on seeing the Gold Room, I would suggest going to your Roll Cal for your ship and see if others are interested in doing it also. If not, then mention to whichever tour company you decide on and they MAYBE can hook you up with others, from another ship, who also want to see what you want to see.

There are so many things to see in the Hermitage, you could spend days there.

If you don't mind, here are a few examples

The Grand Staircase when you enter the building

One of the many huge rooms, one leads right into another

Most of the rooms have marvelous murals painted on the ceilings

Even the hallways, walking form room to room are a marvel

Some of the worlds greatest paintings are features here. Here is Leonardo Da Vinci 'Madonna And Child'

Another of the 'art' rooms, decorated with huge tapestries and paintings

Hope this helps some

Cheers

I also used TJ Travel for our private tour...and the "Gold Room" was just a given on our tour...Being just the two of us it was truly flexible and many add on's were done at the spur of the moment..We saw what we wanted and spent the time we wanted at each venue...Our guide & driver gave us a trip of a lifetime !!!!

I remember when we were in St. Petersburg a couple of years ago we went to see one of the Gold Rooms. As far as I know there are two of them, we saw the one with the royal jewelry. It was certainly worth visiting. The whole tour was taken care of by Palladium Travel and they seemed to be very flexible.
