papa4848 Posted November 9, 2012 Author #2 Share Posted November 9, 2012 Leaving on the 30th what is cheapest and best way to transfer. Does HAL do much special for New years?
RuthC Posted November 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 9, 2012 For a single, the HAL transfer is less expensive, but probably a little more time. For two or more, a taxi is the better choice on both counts.
CruiserBruce Posted November 9, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 9, 2012 Usually taxi is cheapest and easiest. Might want to do some research on the Florida Departures board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
CruiserBruce Posted November 9, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 9, 2012 Check your other post for essentially the same answer Ruth just gave.
Krazy Kruizers Posted November 9, 2012 #6 Share Posted November 9, 2012 Welcome to Cruise Critic. The last time we sailed out of Tampa there was a set taxi rate of $25 to go from the airport to the pier -- that was 2 years ago -- may be higher now. And that was for 2 people. PathfinderEss Posted November 10, 2012 #7 Share Posted November 10, 2012 Welcome to Cruise Critic. I vote for taking a taxi. It is usually faster.
PathfinderEss Posted November 10, 2012 #8 Share Posted November 10, 2012 I agree with CruiserBruce, take a Taxi. I don't if you have ever done New Years on a cruise ship but it is alot of fun. They decorate the bars and there can be late night sandwich's outside the bar area, kind of like a mini buffet. They usually offer a glass or two of complimentary champagne. Johanna7 Posted November 10, 2012 #10 Share Posted November 10, 2012 For 2 or more, a taxi is usually always cheaper and faster. Wish we had done that coming back from Alaska in Seattle to the airport. I think we had the worst shuttle driver in history. He would not put the suitcases in the 'hold' and did not check if you had a ticket ($29 each I think) and many on the bus did not seem to have one. He made everyone get off at the front of the airport and some had to walk a very long time to get to either United or Air Canada. A taxi would have taken passengers to the door nearest to their airline and not have to lug their luggage for miles in that crowded airport.
