Seward or Anchorage?

How big is Seward? Is there lots to see and do just wandering around town or should we take a day trip to Anchorage?

Seward is small but there is a lot of wonderful things to do there. I would prefer to spend a day in Seward compared to Anchorage.

We are doing a B2B from Vancouver to Seward so we only have the day in Seward before we head southbound back to Vancouver. We would be happy to just wonder around town through local shops and stop for a coffee or lunch somewhere if possible.

Stay in Seward - you will have a fabulous day.

 

You can go on a Kenai Fiords boat ride, go to Exit Glacier, go to SeaLife Center. Too much to do in one day.

It would be a 5-6 hour round trip between Seward and Anchorage and that doesn’t allow time for stopping along the way or spending anytime in Anchorage. I’d much rather spend a day in Seward than Anchorage, just for the reasons Coral mentioned.

As someone who lives in Alaska I would also recommend staying in Seward for the day. It is a charming community surrounded by mountains. We have done Kenai Fjords boat tours, and highly recommend them. Also, Exit Glacier is very easy to access.
