Hi all,

We have been offered these 2 tours with Levi bumpiing. Just wondered if anybody had been on either and could give any recomendations or share any concerns.

Many thanks

Lou

Roseau Valley Treasures (wet tour) “Casey’s” 3 waters

Champagne Reef: (1st stop) One of the most unique snorkeling areas in the eastern Caribbean. Take a short 5 minutes walk to the end of the stony beach, until you get to a cliff where you will gear up, walk in and begin a very different under water experience. You will be swimming in bubbles like you were in a giant aquarium. If you do not have snorkel gears, we can provide gears at $5.00us per set (complete snorkel set with fins). If you would like to get gears from us, please let us know your shoe size, since we do not carry all sizes in the fins and only carry gears for those who request it. If we do not carry your size, it could be rented at champagne at $12.00us a set.

Titou Gorge: One of the most unique areas on the Island and it's also a spot where part of Pirates Of The Caribbean 2 was filmed. Like just about all fresh water swimming areas on the Island, The water at Titou Gorge is a bit cold. To enjoy the gorge you would have to take the short swim (about 2 minutes) up a cave like area (you do not swim under water). The swim is about 100 feet and the water is about 10 feet deep at its deepest point, but it’s only about waist high when you get to the middle of the cave-Like area. There is a small waterfall one can swim to, if the water is not flowing too heavy (must do). One can also climb the waterfall (5 feet) to get to another waterfall but has to be very athletic since you have to jump about 6 feet out into the water on your way down to avoid a ledge in the water. This part is not for everyone and is optional even if you can make the jump. (There is an easy 5-7 minutes walk to Titou Gorge). We provide swim belts to all our guests.

Trafalgar Falls: (two waterfalls in the same area) 10 minutes walk one way up a few steps. The walk is not too difficult but can be a bit challenging if one has any major problems with their backs, legs, hips or if one is short in breath due to lungs or heart condition. After the ten minutes walk, you get to a platform where you view the waterfalls and take photos. There is an optional extra two minutes walk where you can soak in the HOT mineral water (natural hot spring). This part of the tour is not for everyone since it’s a bit challenging getting to the hot spring (uneven and slippery). Visitors should take their time walking to and around the hot spring since the area is a bit rocky, slippery and steep. Climbing to the base of the waterfall should be avoided as much as possible because of the danger involved.

Botanical Gardens: (There you will see different plants trees and flowers grown on the Island) 5 minutes from Morne Bruce. (drive through)

Morne Bruce: (an area where you can see the entire city of Roseau from the top of a hill) 7 minutes drive from the ship. (Great for taking photos) (optional)

The estimated duration of the tour is about 5 to 6 hours and has about 1 to 1.5 hours driving and about 30 minutes walking, total. The tour cost $47.00us per person (adult). Children under 14 years but older than 4 years, pays $10.00us less ($37.00us). There's no charge for children under 5 years old, all they pay is the government sight pass fee $5.00us.

You pay for the tour after it has been completed, with cash or travellers cheques (US dollars).

NB: Site passes will be provided so you do not have to purchase site passes.

There will be complementary local (kubuli) beers, soft-drinks and local bottled water on the tour.

Recommendations:

Wear a good pair of waterproof strapped sandals. (eg. Keens)

Swim suits (wear under clothing) and towels

Bring along A light snack and or some fruits (we do not provide lunch)

Waterproof camera would be great for this tour

Tour #2

Pools Falls and More (Wet/dry tour)

Emerald Pool: (small waterfall with a pool at its base) 10 minutes walk one way in the Rain forest at the Morne Trois Piton National Park (UNESCO world heritage site). For the first 8 minutes it's mainly flat and the last 5-7 minutes you walk down a few steps to the pool. The walk is not too difficult but can be a bit challenging if one has any difficulty with their backs, legs, hips or if one is short in breath due to lungs or heart condition. If you do not want to or can't walk down to the pool, it can viewed from above, you would only walk the flat area (about 8 minutes). It's one of the most visited area on the Island. (Swimming)

We can also make a stop at Mr. Nice Fruit Stand. It's a small shed on the roadside where one can stop and sample different fruits grown on the Island. Mr. Nice does not sell the fruits but you are asked to leave a small donation, any amount you feel like.

Trafalgar Falls: (two waterfalls in the same area) 10 minutes walk one way up a few steps. The walk is not too difficult but can be a bit challenging if one has any major problems with their backs, legs, hips or if one is short in breath due to lungs or heart condition. After the ten minutes walk, you get to a platform where you and view the waterfalls and take photos. There is an optional extra two minutes walk where you can soak in the HOT mineral water (natural hot spring). Morne Bruce: (an area where you can see the entire city of Roseau from the top of a hill) 7 minutes drive from the ship. (Great for taking photos) (optional)

The estimated duration of the tour is about 4.5 to 5.5 hours and has about 3 to 3.5 hours of driving and about 45 minutes to 1 hour walking, total. The tour cost $50.00us per person (adults). Children under 14 years but older than 5 years, pays $10.00us less ($40.00us). There's no charge for children 5 and under, all they pay is the government sight pass fee $10.00us.

NB: Site passes will be provided, you do not have to purchase site passes.

When we booked a tour with Levi in 2010 we did a tour that took us to Middleham Falls, Trafalgar Falls, and the Titou Gorge, all of which were amazing! I would take the Roseau Valley Treasures one. The Titou Gorge is a MUST SEE! :D

Whichever you choose you will not be sorry. Dominica is beautiful and Bumpiing Tours gives a fantastic experience!

We've done all of Levi's tours and if this is your first time to Dominica I would recommend the Roseau Valley tour as well.

You've done ALL of them! I'm amazed and jealous!!

I've gone to Sari-Sari falls (not with Levi) on an excursion which also stopped at a black sand beach which I believe was probably Mero??

I've also done the Roseau Valley tour with Bumpiing Tours (AWESOME!!)

I'll be in Dominica again in early 2014 and am debating which Bumpiing Tour to take. The black sand beach was so impressive. I was wondering if we did the Spanny Falls excursion, if they'd agree to a brief stop at Mero Beach. We so rarely get to see anything like that in the states...outside of Hawaii.

Would love to hear more about the Bumpiing Tours you did.

We did the Roseau Valley Treasures tour and had a GREAT time! Levi is so knowledgeable and has such a fun personality. The Titou Gorge is not just "a bit cold," rather freezing! But, totally worth it. We felt completely safe in Levi's hands. Unfortunately, the day we were on this tour it was not safe to snorkel at Champagne Reef, so we got a refund.

I highly suggest good water shoes with gripping soles. It is very slippery at Trafalgar Falls.

We also did the Roseau Valley Best Hike (Wet) Tour which included Middleham Falls, Trafalgar Falls, and the Titou Gorge plus Champagne Reef at the end of the tour. I am sure any tour with Levi will be awesome and highly highly recommend him.

We are back to Dominica this December with our kids and will be touring with Levi again. Whichever tour we do will include Titou Gorge as my son has wanted to go there ever since seeing our pictures.

We just got back from the Windsurf and Dominica was one of our stops. We had arranged for a tour with Levi Baron from Bumpiing Tours in advance, and had a fantastic day. Levi picked us up at the port at 8:30 in the a.m. We headed to Middleham Falls and had a great hike through the rain forest. When we got to Middleham Falls, Levi said we needed to swim across the pool at the bottom, climb out into the little cave, up on a ledge and jump back in. He also told us NOT to start swimming until we could breathe. Wow, was he right! The water was about 60 degrees. Next stop was Titou Gorge. That was another cold swim up the gorge, but it was beautiful. This is where parts of Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed. Levi jumped off into the gorge (from 20 feet up, with sides about 7 feet across), but it was at this point that my husband and I decided we weren't going to do everything Levi did. (Although Gus did swing on a vine like Tarzan and Levi). Here we wore life belts, altho we are both strong swimmers. There was quite a current coming from the waterfall in the gorge. Then on to Trafalgar Falls and the natural mineral springs. Here the water was about 100 degrees and felt really good after the earlier cold swims. Levi showed us a small entry into a lower pool that had a little waterfall- great warm water massage! Next on the agenda was swimming at Champagne Reef. The bubbles were amazing- looked like blobs of mercury floating to the surface. We saw a huge turtle with a pilot fish, a squid, an eel and loads of fish. Levi was a fabulous guide. He took us to a very quiet snorkel spot, and swam and dove down to show us great items.

The day was one of the highlights of the trip. Just wanted to pass on the information!

That was our first tour with Levi, and we loved it! In fact, we've done two of his other tours since, and just yesterday booked our fourth one for next January.

Coming back to Dominica on the Jewel in 2014. Loved Levi's Roseau Valley Treasures (wet) tour and would repeat in a heartbeat, but curious, which tour did you choose for next January?

We'll be on Jewel, and on Dominica on January 15th. When will you be there? We're doing the Interiors Best this year. It takes us several places we haven't seen yet, and is less strenuous than a couple of other hikes we've done with Levi.

Thanks! We really want to do something with Bumpiing tours and will look at this option.

We will be in Dominica right after you on January 29th. So glad Royal is returning, now to wish to return to Grenada.

You guys should check out the Pedu Temps Trail Hike with Levi, we ( Jodi & I ) did this one last time we were on Dominica and had a great time. Jodi's review is on here somewhere.

We've done the Roseau Valley Treasures, the Roseau Valley Best w/ Middleham Falls and the Pedu Temps Trail Hike, all with Levi as our guide. For your first time in Dominica I think the Valley Best would give you the most variety and a good feel for Dominica. When we went we added snorkeling at Champaign Reef.
