A large earthquake 8.0. off Solomon Island.

A tsunami warning has been issued for 100's of southern pacific islands, New Zealand and Australia...this is a link to the warnings.....

When we had a tsunami warning in Hawaii...the Coast Guard had all ships and boats leave Honolulu Harbor....luxury and sailboats also left the marina's......

Wonder about the World Cruise Amsterdam....if they will have to leave the harbor at Auckland.........?????

In the link given, it is a watch for New Zealand and many more distant locations. And Hawaii is not yet mentioned.

Heard about this on the 5:00 AM radio news from Toronto as I was driving to work today (Wednesday). A 1.5 m Tsunami hit the Solomon Islands and killed 4 (so far). 1 m = 39 inches. The island it hit (can't remember the name) was small, the larger of the islands in the Solomons...and I will butcher the spelling...Vanuwantu...measured a wave of 11cm (30cm = 1 foot).
