Who Sailed the Carnival Jubilee

I wonder if we will ever look back at Conquest-class and think that those ships were small

I hope not. We loved Jubillee and Holiday. We've been on Fantasy, Spirit, Conquest and Dream-class ships. My personal favorite is the Spirit-class (Carnival Legend). IMHO they are just the perfect size.

I've been in ports with the RC Oasis-class ships, and while they are impressive and beautiful (in thier own way), I have absolutely no desire to sail on one. Besides the higher cost, that's just too much ship. One of the things I love about cruising is that I simply LOVE to be on the open seas, the ocean is a huge part of the enjoyment-factor for me. I want to feel like I'm on a ship. I can't help but think (and I admit, I haven't tried) that on a ship that large, I'd feel less connected to the ocean. I felt a little bit the same on the Dream.

Jubilee was my first cruise me and my grandparent's and cousin were on her in 2001.I hated it i could hear every creak that ship made plus we didn't have no ac in our stateroom. Also one night in the dining room my mac-n-cheese spilt all over a really big guy,i thought that man was going to come out of his seat and punch that little waiter,i forget what country he was from.I'm really surprise that cruise didn't scare me from cruising,i hated it that bad,you could tell that ship was old.It really need's to be turned into scrap metal.

We sailed Jubilee when she first started sailing. It was so much fun for us after sailing on Mardi Gras and Carnivale. I wish we had pics of our old cruises including all the above as we would be booking our 25th cruise sooner than we are now. Oh well, we still had a great time.

Our first cruise was on the Jubilee ... in was the summer of 2004 and it totally got us hooked on cruising! And sailing out of the Jacksonville port! We have been on 8 cruises now and 6 of them have been out of Jacksonville.

We sailed on here in 1999 when she was sailing 10 day round trip from Miami.

It was a great itinerary. Aruba, Cartagena, 1/2 transit of the Canal, Costa Rica and Key West till 11 PM.

It still ranks up there as our 2 best cruise, Love the ship size and staff.

Would make me very happy if Carnival came back with itineraries like that. I really like longer cruises.

I agree. I love those 10-11 day ROUND TRIP cruises. I think if they used one of the Fantasy class ships for this it would be popular.

Just my 2 cents

People probably don't spend as much per day on the longer cruises. And they would probably have to sale the cabins at a reduced per day cost. I bet the money peoples stopped these cruises for Carnival

For us too, the Jubilee started our love of cruising. 30 Dec, 2000, out of Tampa for a 5 nighter in R115 to Cozumel and Grand Caymen. Our DD was ticked off like nobodies business that we left for a cruise on her 8th birthday! But she ended up having a great time with Grandpa and my wife and I got bitten by the cruise bug. Thank you Jubilee!!

I sailed the Jubilee in 1988 with my family. First cruise and I didn't cruise again until 2009  as life got in the way!

Next week we are headed out on a cruise with my family again (minus my Dad who passed in 2005) it is our first family vacation since the Jubilee 25 years ago. This time our family is bigger, our spouses and the next generation sail with us...my kids, my nieces and nephew. Obviously we won't be on the Jubilee but the Freedom. Sure wish my Dad would be joining us but we will have lots of fun!

We, too, sailed on the Jubilee in 1988. It was also our first cruise.....it was a treat to ourselves after moving from Indianapolis to Baton Rouge in May of 1987 and then moving back to Indianapolis in October of 1987. And then moving into a house in December of 1987. We deserved it after 3 moves in 8 months! And we've loved it ever since and so do our kids. This was back in the day when you could actually smoke in the dining rooms....my, how things have changed! At the time, the Jubilee did not feel small at all. I remember getting off the ship and not being able to walk straight for an hour or so...weaving down the sidewalks...funny now.....we are leaving on the Dream next month

I loved the Jubilee! It was my very first cruise in 1996 for my honeymoon. That shipped seemed ginormous to me at the time, lol. We met so many great people on that cruise - tons of fellow honeymooners like us that we stayed in contact with for a little while after the cruise.

I loved seeing people in the casino at night and then running into them on the pool deck and making plans to meet up again the next night. It had such a close knit family feel to it. I was hooked on cruising from that first cruise but life and kids got in the way for a few years and we didn't do our next cruise until 15 years later and now we include my parents and our two kids.

The Jubilee will always be my favorite cruise of all time! :)

  • 8 months later...

First cruise was on the Jubilee back in 2000 - out of Tampa visiting Cozumel and Grand Cayman. We ran into a little squall before we got to Cozumel that tossed and turned the ship all over the place. I was 12 at the time and upset that the pool was closed, everybody else was just happy to finally be able to step foot on land in Cozumel!

She got me hooked on cruising and now I am trying to get my future DW hooked as well - hopefully booking our honeymoon on the Valor will seal the deal. I went ahead and stacked the deck by booking a balcony...my wallet may be mad at me for years to come!
