Scavenger Hunt

I read on a review in CC that one cruiser said they filled out their Scavenger hunt ticket and deposited it the day they got on the ship. What's that all about? We leave Feb 26 for the Panama Canal and have never sailed Princess before.

Also read where people buy liquor from Princess on board...not a drink but a bottle..any info regarding that would be great. Thanks in advance.

On each first day of the cruise you are given a card which has spaces for each of the places on board which you can spend money on shops, casino spa, sabattinis art collection and flowers etc. You have to go around the ship and get the card stamped by that section personnel When it is full you put it in a box and a a designated tiem YOU MUST BE THERE to win something from photo to meal in restaurant etc.

at the start of a cruise youa re given a card which has spaces for everywhere you can spend money You go around and get a personnel from each of these places to stamp the card which then gos into a draw for a prize. YOU MUST EB PRESENT TO WIN

You can buy liquor on most ships for your cabin but it will be a small 375 cc size for quite a lot of mey.

DW and I did the scavanger hunt on our first cruise. I thought it was a cool way to learn the layout of the ship. I had heard the spa made you go through a tour to get the stamp from them. I found where the tour ended and got my stamp without going through the tour. Turned it in at the sail away party by the pool, but then didn't go for the drawings. I did hear there were some nice prizes given away.

Is the hunt available on every sailing or does it depend on the ship or cruise length?

Maybe not on one day relocations, but usually on all other sailings.

It is always on embarkation day. Sometimes they need to be turned in and prizes given that day, sometimes the next morning.

The purpose of the "hunt" to to make you aware of all the locations you can spend extra money.

The drawing for the prizes is usually done at sailaway (another part of the effort to get people to come out & buy drinks). It is by the pool if the weather is good or in a lounge if it is not. If sailaway conflicts with dinner or is later, it is usually held the first sea day early afternoon

Didn't bother filling out the card on our first Princess cruise but this time I decided to do so. Got handed two cards upon walking onto the ship that first day. My guess is that the crew member handed me two with the intention of handing the other to my Dad traveling with me only for Dad to get handed a card of his own by another crew member.

Having already been on this ship, I knew the layout of most of the places listed and filled up the cards quickly. Unfortunately, I assumed Dad wouldn't want to attend the drawing and only put my name on all 3 cards. During the drawing, several reps from the various departments were introduced and got to announce what from their department they were offering as a prize. A name was drawn and the winner got a certificate to cash in at the respective place.

I ended up being picked to win dinner for two at Sabatinni's. The certificate said that it could only be cashed in on a formal night so we saved it for the 2nd and final formal night. Worked out well in the end because we had already planned to use our free specialty restaurant on embarkation night suite perk to indulge at the Crown Grill.

We attended the spa tour and they had a drawing in the Spa the next day where you need to be present. If your name was called and you weren't present they called another name. They gave away $500 worth of Spa credits. I ended up winning $100 and the other passenger in our cabin won $75.00. The only catch was you had to use it for certain spa treatments. I was planning on visiting the spa and was able to upgrade the treatment with their free money.
